If I go from a 2br to a 1br to save points on a weekend, would they ever make you move if you just move your stuff out of the studio into the 1br lock-off? It would save us about 30 pts to do this but I wouldn't want to move our stuff (anymore than moving it from the studio). I realize I would have to go down and check out/in again.

That should work, as long as you have a lockoff reservation (not a dedicated). Make sure they are aware of it when you check-in so that they don't assign the room to someone else.

It should work, but you may have to move, depending upon the logistics of the reservations at hand.

Say, for instance a resort has 4 lockoffs, if they are all occupied, but then on the weekend two of those want to keep it as a two bedroom and two occupying them want to downgrade, you to a 1 bedroom, the other to a studio, and ther is a new arrival for a 2 bed lockoff, someone, either you or those wanting a studio, would have to move to make room for the arriving 2 bedroom lockoff reservation.

That's a great idea! Having to squeeze into a studio for just a couple days vs. the entire stay seems doable, especially considering you avoid the hassle of moving. I'll keep that in my bag of ammo when DH needs convincing that we need the 1br despite it being double points.;)

I had a similar reservation at BWV and despite making notes when the reservation was made, mentioning it check-in, and speaking to a supervisor later, we still had to pack our stuff and move, twice.

We started with a studio, expanded to a 2 BR when my parents showed up, then shrank to a 1 BR when they left. I had hoped that we could just basically move through the portions of a single lock-off unit (although I knew it was not guaranteed). Despite making all the arrangements I could and making all the polite requests to everyone I could, we had to pack, store our stuff, and check into a new unit later in the day both times.

I knew this was a possibility though so I really couldn't complain. But it sure was a pain to pack up all the clothes and supplies for a family with 1 and 2 year olds, then be homeless for several hours including nap times.

So be aware that you can hope you won't have to move, but it is NOT guaranteed, as I experienced. Just friendly words of warning.

(It was still a great trip and we loved BWV)

In theory you SHOULD be able to do it, but even at check in they will tell you it might not be possible and you could have to move. We did it once. We started in a studio for 1 night when it was just the two of us, moved to a two bedroom lock off for a week when it was 5 of us and then to the 1 bedroom portion for 4 more nights with just the 2 of us again. We were able to stay in the same general unit the whole time...studio to 2 bedroom to 1 bedroom, but they would not guarantee that for us even at each of the 3 check ins for the next one. I'd say if you are at OKW or SSR you will probably have the best chance of staying in the same unit because of the size of those resorts.

The biggest negative we had with that trip was that they did not count your new check in as a new stay. We actually did not get a full cleaning that whole 12 nights.

We've done it several times and never had to move but it is a risk. I went over at 6 am each time to check in to the smaller unit. We've also gone the other way, from a smaller to a larger unit successfully.
