Chances of waitlist coming through for January for VWL - any educated guesses?

Let me preface this by saying that this will be our third attempt at staying at Wilderness Lodge (previous 2 times at the Lodge and not DVC - both had to be cancelled for one reason or another)...it has become somewhat of a running joke for us that we'll never get to stay at WL.

So, after not even trying for a few years we decided to check into availability for a long weekend for DS's birthday this year and I was able to get one night (1/12) in a 1BR (which is our preference) and went on the waiting list for 1BR or a studio for 1/10 and 1/11. The way she did the waitlist is individual nights for the 1 bedroom, so if 1/11 or 1/10 come available separately/at different times, we’ll get them, or if a studio comes available for all three nights as a block before the individual nights we’ll get that for all three and let go of our 1BR so we won't have to move.


Anyone want to give me their opinion on whether or not the waitlist will come through and whether or not I have the right waitlist strategy?

you have got the right strategy - make sure you are on the automatic list - so they don't have to call you to make the reservation.

get a back up reservation - but I don't think you will need it.

Last November we added on and had enough points for a 1BR instead of a studio, which we already had reserved at VWL for our trip in January. I called and was put on a waitlist for the last two nights, and then right at about 40 days before the trip we got all of the nights. Don't give up hope, there will still be cancellations!
