Chances of Thanksgiving HNL airfare drop?

Has anyone ever booked airfare within the last 30 days before their Saturday to Saturday thanksgiving reservation? We've got rooms booked but airfare has stayed over $1000 for months now. We may have to shorten the trip and leave on Thanksgiving, take the risk and wait for a price drop or cancel completely. WWYD?

Not for HNL, but abort 2 years ago we had a cruise booked and watched airfare to/from FLL for several months. We never saw the flight home (Sunday after thanksgiving) drop to anything resembling "normal" airfare (it was about 4x what it normally would have cost). We wound up cancelling before final payment and finding a trip that didn't require airfare - Thanksgiving airfare can be crazy! If you can be flexible with dates (I.e. flying home Mon or Tues instead of Sat) that might help, but I realize that sometimes isn't feasible.

We're looking at Aulani too, but the current airfare prices are pushing me to focus on other potential trips at the moment.

Good luck - I hope it comes down for you and you are able to go :-)

This Thanksgiving? You are so close already, that it will not likely do anything but go up.

We're going to the Marriott Ko Olina next mid June (DD and I for a month, DH and DS for the last two weeks of the trip), and I booked our airfare (from DC) going over in late July, and our return flights in late August. We use airline miles, though, and the amount needed is about double since I booked.

Thanksgiving is a major holiday, and some folks take the week off for vacation, so I'd have that booked asap.

Thank you! So when push came to shove, I adjusted our dates so we could go. Our airfare was about $100 more per person than I wanted to pay, but that beats paying $1400 per person!

That's when we are traveling as well. I changed dates to leave the Friday before(instead of Saturday) and it helped the price, but not by too much. I think airlines know they can jack up prices at Thanksgiving. Good luck, I hope it works out for you in your favor.

We're leaving Thursday but we get there so late, it might as well be Friday. .. have you heard if they're doing anything for the release of Moana?
