chances of staying at DVC

I hope I am in the right spot but I have a few questions. My grandfather is letting us use his points from II (another timeshare co.) and I was reading that we can exchange it for a stay at the DVC's. What are the chances that we would be able to stay there in mid Nov. My grandfather is out of town for a few more weeks so I am trying to get as much info as I can so as soon as he gets back I can reserve our room. Also if I cant get in there, can you suggest other nice resorts close to Disney.

Not sure on your chances of hgetting DVC as it's close to thanksgiving. Close by resors that I've seen and thought worthy options would be Orange Lake country club (10-15 minutes drive from WDW) and Vistana (3-5 minutes drive). The Mariotte World resort ( where Hawks Landing golf course is) looked pretty nice from the fairways, but it's as close as I got to that development.

October through December is a very popular time of year for DVC. So I would think that your chances this late in the year are not too good. You can always give it a try, but I would have a couple other places as backups. If Vistana is on the list I would try there. We like the one on International Drive better than the one in Lake Buena Vista, but they are both nice. I think that all of the Marriott's are pretty nice, and there are plenty to choose from in Orlando.

You have a chance for October and early November but not mid November or later. for DVC. Personally, I'd go for Marriott Grande Vista, Marriott Cypress Harbour and possibly Horizons. OLCC is a RCI resort. Westgate is a decent choice but not on par with the rest.

You said points, what timeshare are the points with? That system may have something in Orlando you can use directly which might be a much better choice for you.
