Chances of getting the loop I requested??

Okay, so we got slammed by the IRS, then dh lost his job in Il. He got a new job in Texas, but it took forever to sell our house in Chicagoland (2 house payments for six months :guilty: .) Anyhow, we are now settled, happy, and climbing out of the debt hole. We sold dh's SUV and our 2 DVC contracts. We have decided to camp (in our big tent) at FW the week after Thanksgiving (we would rather be cold than hot!) and I booked us a site on-line. I requested loop 1500 per the recommendation of the UG and looking at the map. It's no real biggy if we don't get it, but what have your experiences been getting the loop you requested? Does it make a difference that I did it on-line vs calling in?? Will it be easier because it is a partial hookup? Dh and the 2 younger kids think camping at WDW is gonna be a BLAST, now I just have to convince myself and the 2 teenaged girls princess: princess: ! BTW, we have aerobeds for everyone, warm sleeping bags, coolers and cooking stuff, will drive the suburban, and most of us have camped with the scouts a few times. What do you think???

The fort is normally really good about trying to honor requests, but there are only 21 sites in the 1500 loop and it's very popular, so it can be tough getting in there. Good luck with it tho!

How do you get to request loops?! When I booked my reservation, they told me I couldn't request a loop :(

Requests for 1500 loop on given on the basis of whomever made their reservation first, so if 50 guests are checking in around the same time and have all requested 1500 loop only those who reserved earlier will get it (there is an exception for guests with disabilities).

I reserved on-line. There is a section where you can type in a simple request. Did you call in? I have always made requests when I booked at resorts/DVC also (nothing too specific like exact room, but I have requested a certain flloor, non-smoking room, ect.)

I understand completely and I am not gonna have a breakdown if we don't get it. I know 1500 is popular (with good reason!) I was just asking because I have yet to see very many posters here who want a basic site. They are for tents and pop-ups only. It seems that not too many people want them. Even in the UG they say "most campers at FW are in RVs." I just have no idea HOW MANY loops are basic hook-up :confused3 . Are they few and far between???

I have had success with calling the Fort directly about five days before arriving and reiterating my site request. It is my understanding that actual site assignments are made five days or so in advance. If you get to the person at the front desk who makes that assignment, they have always been willing to help us. The problem becomes if if the people in the 1500 loop all stay over into the period of your arrival - then, of course, there are no vacancies.

There are two partial hook up loops, 1500 and 2000 (I have a map on the bottom of my FW web site if you don't have one)

To the best of my knowledge:

1500 loop has 21 sites
2000 loop has 68 sites

So, in total there are about 89 partial hook up sites.

That's a good idea. Since Fort Wilderness is so different from the other Disney resorts, some of the booking agents are not very familiar with it. If you want to call FW directly, you can call 407-824-2727. 5 days out is probably the best, since that's what I've heard the CMs there suggest.

We are booking for next Dec and requesting 1600 because I have to have cable so I can watch TV before bed time LOL. We are using our DVC points to book the site I am not a camper but my wife and kids love it so my trade off was my LCD tv and surround sound DVD system for the trailer and having a site with cable LOL.

Try another loop. 1600 is a non preferred pet loop, no cable TV

Hmm I guess DVC cast members don't have the facts about FW yet then because they told us that was a preffered loop LOL but I guess they are probably still figuring it out as FW was just added as a place for us to use our points at. We do not want a pet loop I am not a pet friendly person other than our lizzards but no way no how for dogs cats etc. Whoops my mistake it was the 1400 loop I think my wife said was the prefered we can book not 1600 my mistake.

Call DVC and change from full hook-up to preferred site (cost about $8.00 more per night). You must call DVC because the Campgrounds can't upgrade the site when you are using your points. Then, like was said before, call FW directly about 5 days out and request non-pet loop (pref. 100 loop).

1400 is a great preferred, non-pet loop, but the sites can be a little small. 600 loop has pretty big sites, and is still convenient to the meadows area.

My wife loves the 600 loop that was where she stayed when she was younger with her family. It is a full hookup site but no cable and I need my cable at night.

I always request a loop but seems I never get it at first... but while checking in I ask for my loop and always get it. :thumbsup2

600 was upgraded to preferred with cable last year, along with the 800 loop

Thankas for the update now is the comfort station over there refurbished or is it the old grey ugly thing. My wife will be really happy if it is then I will agree to the 600 loop LOL.

LOL I know the CS in the 1400 is refurbised, but I don't know about the one near 600. Not that the 1400 one is very far (just over the bridge and past the campfire :thumbsup2 )
