So we couldn’t use them at Aluniin Hawaii or Vero?

You can use resale points at Hilton Head and Vero beach and Aulani. They are part of the "main " DVC resorts. You just cant use resale points for a cruise [which is not an efficient use of points anyway] and the Disney Collection and Adventures By Disney. But, honestly....the best and most efficient use of Disney points is at the main DVC resort on site at WDW or Villas Grand Califirnia in Disney land plus Aulani, Vero beach and Hilton Head

In general we can usually book at Kidani when we want to. And, members can set up to wait lists at a time so sometimes we use the wait lists to get what we want. Good luck! I would look into buying Kidani via resale if you love it that much

If you want the direct member benefits just buy a 25 point add on at AKV after you complete your resale purchase.

As for OP -- Jambo books quicker than kidani because there are less rooms and only lock off 2BR -- so if you want a studio one of those studios could be taken up by people booking studios as well as those getting a 2BR. For example -- we booked 11 month to the day for Nov 27- Dec 1st 2018. I booked Jambo as we have never stayed there. I went back a week later to look at availability and my time frame was not available -Oct - Dec is a very high demand DVC time because points are generally lower- so it does book quick, but if you do the 11 month mark you should be fine. You will hear -- buy where you want to stay but you could also look at it as buy where you don't mind staying. If you know you don't want CCV then don't buy there. Keep looking, you will find what you want and definitely look into the savings of resale as you can use those points at all DVC.

Correct, on 1/25/18, when I posted my reply it was available. On 2/11/2018, DVC announced that effective 2/25/2018, you needed 75 direct pt.s minimum for direct owner benefits. Since I’m not a DVC employee I had no clue when I posted on 1/25, that 17 days later DVC was going to announce a change in the rules for resale buyers (the third such change) & that the 25 direct pt. work around which had been utilized successfully by resale buyers the last couple of years was about to abruptly end
