Chances of getting BLT 1 bedroom 6 months out for January

Hi, I just discovered renting DVC points and have been researching like crazy. Should I even pursue this for our trip in January? There will be 5 of us and were thinking about staying in a 1 bedroom at BLT or AKV Kidani, for the extra bathroom. Do you think this is even an option or should we wait and rent points 7 months out for our next trip? Also, how do you choose a resort? We will have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and grandma to help! We are going January 25 for 6 or 7 days. TIA!

You might be limited to a lake view at BLT, but a standard or savanna view at AKL should be possible. You'll need to someone to rent from to check the specific availability at the time you're ready to commit.

If you move quick, you should be able to get either.

As to choosing a resort, at six months out you are often choosing whatever is left, but assuming you can get a 1BR at BLT or AKV, then either BLT or AKV Kidani would be ideal choices because both have the additonal sleeper chair that pulls out to a twin so you have sleeping places for five, both have two bathrooms and both are larger than 1BRs elswhere other than OKW anf VGF. Beyond the room itself, you might favor BLT because with a 2 and 4 year old you are likely to be spending more time at MK than other parks, and the Contemporary has Chef Mickey"s, a restaurant with character meals.

I highly second this!!! The convince of BLT with kids that age is why it still appeals to us even now that ours are 2x as old as yours. The main reason is the strollers and needing to fold them up on buses. With BLT the MK is only a walkway away and when meltdowns happen (kid or adult ) you can be back in the room quick.
