What are the chances of walking up to a restraunt in Epcot and getting a table. I know most of them are booked solid but being a solo person do you think I would have a chance at getting a table at the coral reef lets say? :confused3

I would put your chances at slim to none. I don't think being solo will help/hurt as almost all tables are set up for two or more diners.

At Coral Reef, I wouldn't think so. The reason I say that is that I just called for solo ADRs there in early December, and I couldn't get dinner there on 2 seperate nights. I ended up with lunch. At Bomas, as a solo, I had very limited times available on 11/30 for dinner for a solo. Character meals, which seem to attract large families, usually have last minute openings at small tables for 1 or 2, but at regular resturaunts, I've been surprised that it's been rather difficult.

Most restaurants in WDW, and especially Coral reef have very few tables for 2 This makes it hard to get ADR's.
I am going solo in September and could not get an ADR at Coral for the whole week I was there, had to settle for lunch.

I have seen people have better luck with walk ups for lunch.

coral reef, for dinner, is going to be tough weeks out to even get an ADR. your best bet is something like biergarten where you'll be at a communal table anyway.

a table for 1 is a table for 2. you should make ADRs for anywhere you wish to be guaranteed to eat.

Ok thanks for the resonses! I figured it would be hard to walk in. I just didnt want to make a reservation and be tied down to a specific time. Maybe I'll just stop in for lunch to see and try my luck! Thanks for the info!

There was a post on here the other day from someone who said no tables for two were available for the restaurants she wanted, but the CM told her tables for three were available. Most restaurants apparently have few two top tables (which is where a solo would be seated).

Saying that, I had reservations for two for Sept 29th-Oct 7th and had to call and change them to tables for one. At that time I switched from Spoodles to Coral Reef and from Chef Mickey's to Tony's with no problem. This was about two weeks ago. If there is a particular restaurant you want to dine at I'd make an ADR, even as a solo. You can always cancel when you get down there if your plans change.

My 2 cents? Better safe than sorry! Better get the ADR, and if it ends up you have other plans you just cancel it, than hoping for a walk in and being turned down (allmost) everywhere you go.

I'm travelling solo 9-4/9/12, and had some problems and other places were real easy. I started calling in June.

Boma was a bit of a trouble to get an earlier than 7.30, but other than that; no probs with the date.

Le Cellier; forget about dinner. Lunch was possible after 3 times trying. (which I cancelled later on, doesn't fit my plans)

Coral Reef; forget about dinner. Lunch was no problem. I've actually just changed my ADR last sunday and could still pick a lot of dates and times.

Chef Mickey; big problem for both diner and breakfast. Only 7 am breakfast, which didn't suit me. Only dinner option; 9 pm at the day of my arrival. Didn't feel relaxing at all, I want a "no need to do" day in case I am simply to tired from the flight. Learned on the DIS they do lunch for certain dates during free dining. Called and could pick any day, any time.

The Plaza (dinner) and Christal Palace (dinner and breakfast); no problems. Could pick whatever, and changed them around quite a few times.

Sci-Fi; lunch fits my plans best, and had no problems picking date and time this last sunday.

Cape May Cafe; no problems again for dinner.

I know how you feel...I'll be solo just for the first day and a half of my trip and really looking forward to the freedom of it. But I'll be there during free dining and didn't want to eat only counter service even if it is only me! Rather than worry about where I'll be when, I decided to go for a couple of places that are new for me that I've been wanting to try: Boma dinner, I've never been able to fit into our itinerary before, and the whole family is eating at Jiko a few days later. I also wanted to try the new Teppanedo for lunch, which is supposed to be open by then. Booked both this morning, no problem! Boma is early at 4:50, but I thought I would catch the new Nemo musical at AK, then go to the lodge from there, and Teppanedo is at 12:15. Have a magical trip!pixiedust:

Hi, when Von is working her one day at Disney, I have had no problem with a single at Biergarten or joining a table at Japan for table side cooking...it is fun cuz you meet other folks and families...
Good Luck...Ted

I have traveled solo numerous times in the past and have never had trouble getting a seat last minute. But it is getting busier now with all the free dining and packages and stuff.
I would try early on during the vacation for dinner at Coral reef. If you can't get in, then eat there for lunch. I am like you, I usually don't like to be tied down as I never know what I want ahead of time. But I also don't mind doing counter service if I can't get a sit down. After all, cheeseburger and fries are one of my fave meals :)

I actually can't think of a time I did not get a table though. I go during slow times mostly though, so that may help.

I am a firm believer in ADRs! I dont think it matters how many people, what time of the year (or day) or what restaurant...it is always better to be sure of getting in then being disappointed

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm only going to be there for 3 days so thats why I didnt want any ADR's because of the VERY limited amount of time. Its no big deal if I dont get in to Coral reef since I have ADR's there for October. I'm just so excited to see this resturaunt I figured I would try for lunch before then (October). I wouldnt normally go without ADR's just because of my time limit thats why. (haha I already have mine for October on the 180 day mark!) Thanks again everyone!
