Hoping to go to Disneyland for a few days after Aulani in July 2015. I assume it will be near impossible to book a 2 br at VGC. If so, where do you suggest we stay, and should we use points or pay "cash"?

The dedicated 2 bdrms are the easiest to book because they require so many points. I think you have a good chance at getting one if you're on-line right at 8 a.m. ET. Right now, July is wide open for 2 bdrm units.

I agree, 2 bedroom villas should be available :goodvibes
There might be some difficulty around July 17, for the 60th anniversary :headache:

How about 1 bedroom villas for the end of June 2015? Is it easier to get a studio or 1 bedroom at the 7 month mark?

Thanks

It's easier to get a 1 bedroom. I was able to get a 1 bedroom for the Sunday to Wednesday nights before D23 last year at 7 months, studios were gone. I'm hoping to do it again for next August.

Thanks...not sure we actually will need the 1 bedroom. Don't plan on spending alot of time in the room the way we do at WDW. My backup is 7nts at Disney's Paradise Pier.

We have booked at the seven month window on 3 occasions. If you have never been to Disneyland, I would not recommend Paradise Pier. We have stayed at all three resorts and would rather stay off site than pay for a room there. You are paying Disney prices for a hotel that is not all that Disney. If you can't get into VGC stay at the Disneyland Hotel.
