What are my chances for getting a good seat for Fantasmic if I do not have a dining package? How long would I need to wait in line? BTW, I will be there the week of Dec 9th - 16th. Would it be easier to get a seat if I went during EMH, when they have 2 shows?

Thanks!

I'm going the same week and I've done some research on this. You can still get seats without the package if you wait in advance. I would get on line as soon as you see a line forming. You may want to line up from 90 min. to 2 hours in advance especially if you want decent seats. Even though this isn't a very busy time of year, the show is extremely popular. If you have kids, it will be difficult for them to wait long, so you may want to do the package. I know they may be sold out by this time though. If it is showing more than once per night, you can usually get seats for the 2nd show by showing up 30-45 minutes in advance although EMH evenings are popular so I'm not sure how busy it might get. The second show is never as popular as the first though. Good luck!

Thanks for your response. My DH and I are the only ones going. We currently have an ADR for Mamma Melrose on the 14th; however, I would really rather eat somewhere else. Hmmmm . . .I don't know what to do.

Hmmm....a few months ago I posted a message asking if there's a 2nd Fantasmic show on EMH evenings. I got many replies and they all said no, there is not a 2nd Fantasmic show during EMH. I'd be happy if there is a 2nd show because we're also planning to go to MGM during December on an EMH evening. I would love to hear if anyone knows for sure.

We went to fantasmic the last week of August which has crowds about the same level as when you are going or even higher and we got good seats 50 minutes before the show. With only 2 of you looking for seats I think it would be even easier.

Hi
We're going to MGM on Dec 11th and I'm pretty sure they have two shows that night. It's an EMH night and there is a show at 7:00 and I think 8:30. We've seen the show many times, so we're going to check out the Osborne lights at 7:00, hoping it won't be as crowded since a lot of people will be at Fantasmic. I think I read these times on Disney's website. Just want to add that the second show is usually not as crowded. We did the package last Oct and this past August. It's really worth it to me not to have to wait for an hour. I've been there without the package and waited an hour. This past August we got there about 15 minutes before the show was starting, actually cutting it a little too close, but we had great seats. Our dinner was at Mama Melroses and we enjoyed it. Not the best food, but it was pretty good. Have a great time!!!

Thanks for posting this info as we will be trying to do MGM on a EMH night and will be doing the Osborne Lights before and then hoping to go to the 2nd show for Fantasmic as well. I do hope the 2nd show we won't have to wait that long to get a seat as my kids won't go for standing and waiting that long I'm sure especially my youngest as he isn't the best at waiting but I suppose he will learn real soon in order to do things at Disney you may have too :)

Like disnut1149 said, I found the times for the shows on the disney website. Just click on "calendar" and then click on the number of the day that you are attending. The calendar provides information for times of parades, fireworks, fantasmic, and illuminations.

If I want to cancel my ADR for the Fantasmic package, what is the timeframe? I was thinking I had to cancel at least 48 hours in advance. Is that true?

thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

You need to get there early. I always get there between 1 1/2 and 2 hours early, as soon as they open the gates. It fills up quickly from there. You can eat inside, they have a concession stand.

I never do the dining package and generally arrive around one hour early and have no problems. I think you will be fine. I have even gotten to F! an hour early during Christmas week (but they had three shows that night so that made that doable). If you want a great seat 90 minutes would be more than enough time. Getting there early is not a big deal since they have restrooms and a concession stand.

We went last Friday and got there about 45 mins early w/out a package and did not have a problem. I know it was a slow time because people who were walking in about 15 mins before the show got a seat.

Here is my experience. Both times during the busy summer months. The first time we went we decided to go to the later showing. We got there early and waited in line for about 20 minutes.( They can't let people in until after the previous show ends.) When the show started there were still seats available. Other people were just walking in. The second time we went was the next summer. This time we decided to go to the early show. We arrived an hour early and walked right into the theater. We had snacks and did the wave until the show started. The theater was filled 20 minutes prior to the show. JMO~going to the early show and getting there an hour ahead was better. It was much nicer for us to just sit with our snack, socialize, and do the wave then stand in a long crowded line. We have never done the meal package because personally( JMO again) I don't think it would benefit us in any way. :goodvibes

They added a second show at 8:30 for EMH nights in early December. So, now I think that will be my plan as well. We had a FDP for Mama Melrose at 3:30, which was early and we wanted to see the parade. I haven't cancelled yet, but we are thinking about it. I probably won't do it until November some time, after giving it some more thought.
