Chance of new Dvc in Cali?

Columbia? :P

(Please don't use 'Cali' as shorthand for California. Google it, if you must. Thanks for understanding.)
HAHA! I have been "white knuckling" my keyboard for two days trying so hard not to respond to the reference. I'm not sure why it grinds, but it's awful!

You should probably take up your gripe regarding Cali with LL Cool J. (Thanks a lot LL!)
LL Cool J is from New York. He didn't know any better.

My name must give you guys nightmares then. We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm from California and still a part time resident. There are no rules about abbreviated state names. I'm sorry this irritates you but there are bigger fish to fry in the world. We all love DIsney which is a California, Cali, SoCal original (btw NO one says Cal unless you're referring to UC Berkeley but Cal is ok too!).

I have lived in California my whole life and have never said "Cali". However, I too used it for my profile name. Just cause it was shorter than "CaliforniaKris" and "CalifKris" is just weird. I hope my name is not annoying!

Down here in So Cal we say Cal all the time! ;)
I must miss it but maybe I’ll start noticing it more now. The best part is that it’s ALL Good!! : ) As long as you call it the best state in the union. (Thats in jest people)

You may have it in your name. You may use it as reference for yourself ... but please, don't use it in a spoken or written communications to refer to California? Thank you, most kindly.

Since it’s not a slur or an expletive, I will continue to use it at leisure. I have no idea why it grinds your gears so hard but to try to ban it from the vernacular is a bit out of proportion. But continue to try by all means and I’ll continue to defend those who do. Californians for California- whatever you call it.

I hope that this is all being done in jest. It has gone on for some time in this discussion, though.
As an outsider to all of this, I have actually done research on the topic at this point due to all of the comments about the name "Cali". It just sounds dumb. If someone calls Illinois "Illi-noise", I take it to mean that they don't come from the state, and then stop caring anymore about what they called it. It has no effect on me, is not demeaning my myself or my state, it is not worth my energy to worry about. I cannot find any example of some terrible atrocity occurring to the California and its people while it was being nicknamed "Cali" that led to those in the state swearing to never refer to it by that name again. If I am missing that example, I am sorry. It must not have been famous enough to show up on my Google search results.

Anyone want to postulate on how this May effect VGC? Still waiting for buy direct points there I wonder if I should wait now for this new resort.

I think the intention with this thread got derailed a bit.

Let’s get back on track - shall we.
This is being addressed because a few have been admonishing folks who have used Cali in several threads recently that it must never be done. It’s time to live and let live. We all have our annoyances but if it’s not actually an epithet and merely personal preference some tolerance could be practiced. Now, onward!

I have found this thread to be chalk full of useful information: https://www.disboards.com/threads/new-hotel-at-disneyland.3643170/
Probably what allowed this one to get so off the rails.
I am hoping for more DVC rooms, in either hotel. The exchange rates to hotel rooms are so cost prohibitive, and I would like to be able to use DVC points for a trip to Disneyland sometime in the future, so this will be a development that I will be eagerly watching.

One bad sign so far is that no mention of DVC rooms has been brought up at all. You would think they would say at least "some rooms will be reserved for vacation club members" in order to draw up excitement for DVC ownership in general, especially with two resorts not sold out and a third one on the way. We will just have to wait and see I guess.

Problem is that DVC is currently selling aulani but they aren’t doing that well. By announcing a new DVC resort in the same region or in a region which is supposed to draw buyers to aulani some might hold off buying if they know a new DVC resort is coming.

If a new DVC resort is coming my guess is they will hold their cards pretty tightly until either aulani is close to sold out or until they HAVE TO announce the new resort.
