Chance of discount code?

Planning on visiting for 1st time with our kids in August 2015 (August 10-17 to be exact). Have a goal budget for trip. Currently the WL falls within our budget, but our GOAL resort is Poly. We are disney visa holders & have signed up for DVD, etc. I think we are going to book WL (just I case promos never come out for Poly), but pray a good discount comes out for Poly, then change our reservation if it does. What is the likelihood this will happen? Should we just bite the bullet & book Poly now & pray promo comes out? We can't afford the Poly without a discount code! In the past, have Poly promo codes been applicable to standard rooms?

Mousesavers lists dates and prices of historical discounts on their website. I've been early June and late July/early August, and they had discounts on standard rooms at Poly. In fact, I booked before the discount came out and then called Disney to apply it once it came out. However, there's no guarantee on future discounts. Get the room/rate that you can live with. If a discount does occur, then you can try to switch.

Does anyone know if you book a disney room through hotels.com if u can keep your current dinning reservations and fastpasses? And if hotels.com is legit.
