Has anyone been on the champagne catamaran excursion to St. John from St. Thomas? We are trying to decided how to spend the most time on St. John or at least the most time "seeing" the area around St. John in January.

There would be 4 adults booking the excursion and I would appreciate any thoughts of past cruisers. Is there a better way to have a longer time on a St. John beach but still manage to return to the ship in a timely manner since it is only in St. Thomas for a short time? My Dsis and I are concerned about not making it back to the ship in time:eek: if we try to go to St. John on our own.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.:D

We (dh, dd15 &me) did champagne catamaran last march and loved it. Dh is not much of a salt water fan and he even enjoyed the snorkling. DD and I snorkled max time. The sail over was great as well as the return. The buffet lunch is served while at ST. Johns. Cold drinks and fruit on the way over, coming back adult beverages are served. The crew was great and it was very relaxing. You only have about an hour in port afterwards which is just enough time to shop in the center by the ship.

Nearlychildless,

Thanks for the quick response. Both Dsis and I feel this is probably the best choice for us. Both Dh's are easy going so they will go along with whatever we decide. We just wanted to hear from someone that had actually been on the excursion and get their opinion.

My neighbors actually go camping on St. John every year for 2 weeks. They bring all their camping gear...it's quite a site to see them leaving in the limo...and they told us not to miss seeing St. John so I guess the catamaran sail it is.

All you'll really see of ST. John is the coast and one beach and the water but it hassle free and beautiful.

We did the Champagne cattamarran (sp) cruise and enjoyed it a lot. The ride over was very choppy and while some people got a little queazy my wife and I sat way up on the starboard pontoon and got gloriously soaked. It settled by the time we got to the beach. The water was as clear as you could possible imagine. Tons of fish, too. I would highly recommend it. (ps the captain, a woman, was excellent and no nonsense when it came to safety. Wes

We did this excursion and loved it. The main reason we selected this one was for the duration...2 hours to get there...2 hours there...2 hours return. Longer than most. You do only see the coastline and the beach where you snorkel but it was beautiful.

The crew, the boat and the food/drink were all great, as well. We'll do it again.

Nearlychildless, WRH3MD and Disneykids,

Thanks for the replies. This excursion sounds perfect. I know we won't see all of St. John, only the one beach, but we wanted to maximize our time there.

I am not a beach person as I am red-haired, fair-skinned and BURN, but I've heard how beautiful the water is and I really wanted to be able to snorkel on my own there.

Dsis and I told our Dh's about the excursion and they were all for it.

Thanks for your input.
