I'd like to get a family plan for my 10 y/o and myself to share. Currently we share a cell phone, which is pre-paid. I havent looked at these things in YEARS!!!

I dont know which service to use, which phone to get, which plan is best? HOLY CANNOLI!! :earseek: ***too many to choose from***

I'd be super forever grateful if someone could just point me to one that just works well for them - nothing fancy - local calls, to and from each other.... no biggee...

HELP! :worship: :worship: :worship:

We have been looking for one for the four of us.....ridiculous!! They make it sound easy in the commercials but there are alot of limitations! UGH!!

The Verizon Family Share Plan has worked well for us. Unlimited calls between the four of us on our cell phones. The toughest thing is to train our teens to call us on our cell number and not our home land line.

There are lots of different minute plans and whistles and bells to choose from as well.

We have 3 phones under the Verizon Family Share Plan.
Always been happy with Verizon and their service.
Your best bet it to take a ride to a few different ones and see what they have to offer in your area.

If you are wanting phone for your kids, you might want to see what plans their friends use. Most of the people in our area use Cingular, so we can call with free mobile-to-mobile minutes.

I have verizon and have been very happy with it.

We've been happy with Verizon too. We solve that "which number to call" problem by not having a land line. It works well also.

We had 3 phones on the Verizon plan, but just switched to a new Verizon plan and added our 2 older sons. So now we have 5 phones. It seems like a good plan, though, since each additional phone is only $10/month extra and there is unlimited calling between phones, no roaming, and free long distance. We don't use our land line phone for any long distance anymore.

Check to see the coverage in your area and make sure it will work where you need it to work.

It really depends on what is available in your area and what carrier friends and family use because you can get unlimited mobile to mobile calls with a couple of carriers.
Overall, I heard great things about Verizon and I wanted them but ultimately I chose to go with Cingular instead because 1.) they have a much better coverage in my area (at least on paper! lol) 2., because nearly all my close friends and family already use Cingular. I have free mobile to mobile (included on nearly every Cingular plan now) so I don't use any minutes when I call any other cingular phone (my dd, five of my siblings and four of their spouses, a nephew, and several friends). It really cuts down on the number of daytime minutes I need each month which meant I could go with a cheaper plan and not go over my minutes.

Verizon Family Share Plan here, too. It has the best coverage in our area - which can be tricky because of geography. We have nationwide long distance and I can talk to my mom and dad (also verizon customers) without using my minutes. When the kids need cell phones, we will put them on our plan for $10 each per month.

We have verizon as all my wifes hen friends are on it and they can use IN calling to chat each other as much as they want without using minutes. We have 900 minutes and she used 1900 IN calling minutes last month but they were all free so I can't complain.

Thank you all for the suggestions....

I was soooo overwhelmed! BLAH! :crazy2:

Thanks again! :grouphug: :love1: :grouphug:

We've got the T-Mobile family plan, but only 2 cellphones for now. Ours is the cheapest plan (400 min/mo, I think), but since calls to all other T-Mobile customers are free, we never use the minutes up. We've been with them for about 5 years now & have no complaints.

We use Alltel--mainly because it's unlimited mobile-to-mobile and mobile to our home number. Since I got the phones for dd and I and we'd mainly be calling each other and the house, it worked out the best for us.

We've had Cingular's Family Plan with 4 phones for about 8 years. We love it. We upgraded our phones and plan last January. We pay $90/month and share 850 minutes. We didn't need nearly that many but that was the least we could get. Calls to other Cingular customers are free. Nites after 9 and all day Sat. and Sun. are free. The only signal problem we've had is my mom has trouble inside her house but she lives in a row home in Philly. If she stands by the window she's okay.

I am actually still on an AT&T plan but it is now part of Cingular. I have had it since 2000. I have 1200 minutes between 4 phones. I pay around 150.00 a month but have a national plan. I plan on staying with Cingular once our contract is up. My nights start at 7.00 pm and weekend are free. I love the free minutes between other Cingular customers. I usually use around 3000 minutes a month but haven't went over on minutes because of the phone to phone priveleges. It has been great because when I see my teenage daughter on the phone I just ask her if the other person is on Cingular and 90% of the time the answer is yes. I also have alot of text messages. Hope this helps.
