Cell phone usage?

Can anyone tell me if they had luck using their cell phones (T-Mobile) in Grand Cayman or Cozumel. It is conciderably cheaper to use the cell phone, but I wasn't sure if the phone would work. Any experiences with this? Thanks for any info. Our group of 6 adults is going without the kids and will need to call home quite often.

No specific advise I can give you, other than to call your cell phone provider. I know a number of carriers offer different options for international cell coverage, and the only way to know for sure is to call your provider (or check out their website).

For example, I am on Verizon and I think they have a plan where I can just pay for (international) roaming in Cozumel, or I can sign up for a North America plan that provides coverage in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. As for Grand Cayman, I think I would have to rent an international cell phone. For other locations (such as the Bahamas), I was not able to get Verizon coverage at all.

So, long story short, check with your provider.
