Celebrity Resorts Or Sheraton Vistana

Okay, I cannot make up my mind. I have wanted to stay at Vistana forever, but Celebrity's pictures are very nice. Someone help.

So I was taken in by the pics at Celebrity Resorts too. We have a reservation there later this month. They state that they are renovating and that most units are renovated...NOT true. They are all 80's Florida decor and the only ones that are renovated are the 3 bedroom suites and those are all booked. I am NOT happy and am now looking for a new resort. I feel like they have been tricky and when I called the front desk to upgrade they were really REALLY rude.

Celebrity is right up there with Westgate in terms of "customer service".

Vistana may have some wear around the edges, but I would pick it in a heartbeat over any Celebrity resort.

Well I almost suffered a nervous breakdown trying to make up my mind, then finally dh and I said...Let's just stay put. You all are so right. I might just end up in the Cascades or Lakes, who knows? We will be there on Friday, so I will come back and report. Thanks a bunch

We will be staying at the Celebrity Resorts Orlando at the end of October (my ILs gave us a FREE week there, so we couldn't turn it down), so we are hoping for the best.

I just think it a bit unfair to blast the resort sight unseen. We are going to give it a chance- every resort gets some bad reviews, but I don't feel that I can warn others away from a property before I ever stayed there. KWIM? We have had pretty good customer service from the employees we have talked to. FIL and MIL have stayed there in the past and had no complaints at all.

I hope you get to stay at a place you like.

I apologize if I came off as blasting the hotel. I realize that I shouldnt judge it as harshly as I did sight unseen. I guess that I was mad that the customer service rep that I spoke to was so terribly rude to me. I kinda put a damper on my whole getting excited for DW experience, ya know?

When I spoke to CS she was very clear that they do not have any remodled suites except the four 3 bedroom suites and those were all booked. They stated in their website that most of their suites have already undergone a remodel at this time. When I told this to the CS woman, she said that was not the case and I must be confusing it for the C-R Orlando Spa location. ??? I asked her to please confirm their website and when I double checked I was correct in what I read. I had requested a remodeled room when I made the reservation and they did not have that request in their computers. I guess that its not a huge deal, but we have been saving and would like a nice, comfy family happy hotel.

Then I went and read about 70 reviews on the place....some were good, most were bad. Im sure that it is fine and I shouldnt be judgemental. But again, I was pretty shocked at the rudeness of the CS rep.

I hope that you have an AWESOME trip Jen! I know that we will! And thanks for calling me out. I hate that I came off that way. I really didnt mean to bash. I dont want to be "that person". LOL!

I totally understand, Janelle. We are hoping really hard for a nice experience there. As I understand it, the Celebrity Resort is actually 2 properties across the street from each other (the Spa section and the Oaks, I think??) and one has been renovated and the other hasn't. Maybe you got booked in the unrenovated area. I think maybe the person you spoke to doesn't have their facts straight (at least I hope not)- I think my ILs told me they stayed at a renovated 2 bedroom last year. Possibly the 3 bedrooms that have been redone are lockoff units so they could be used as 2 bedrooms and studios??

Hope you have a good time, wherever you end up . I think we will actually be at WDW the same time- we are checking in to Celebrity on 10/28 and staying through 11/4 (we have a 1 night ressie at Radisson Resort Celebration on the 27th, too). We'll be at the parks with our LGMHs clipped to our backpacks and lanyards- maybe we'll see each other there!!

Maybe we will see each other there! I find it amazing how many people that I have talked with over the past few days that will be there at the same time as we will. Its a small world after all, huh? LOL!

Well, if you see me you will see me chasing after my one year old son. He refuses to ride in a stoller for long and is so very active! I know that he will be into everything!!!

Are you staying at the Celebrity Resort in Orlando, since there are 2 different locations in Orlando. We own at the CS in Lake Buena Vista which has been completely remodeled, and it is beautiful.
Hoping that even with some wear, your unit is a good one, as was ours even before the remodel last Feb. Think positive thoughts!

We own at Celebrity and haven't stayed there in 15 -20 years. We always traded for Vistana when we were staying off site in Orlando. We love Vistana! We have driven over to look at our place, and it always looks very rundown.

We are thinking about trying our unit in 2009 or so - hopefully after everything has been remodeled.

The Oaks has been remodeled - we own in the Spas which hasn't been remodeled yet (as far as I know - we did pay a special assessment years ago for it though!).
