I was offered a GREAT deal at this resort. Anyone ever stay there? The website looks great and I've always wanted to check out Celebration.

...so can only provide some info. It is a quiet and peaceful hotel with very nice decor. The lobby furniture brings to mind 1920's tropics. Lots of cane, wood and neat ceiling fans throughout the common areas. They offer a brunch and have very nice dining areas. With a good rate, it would be a neat place to try. It is certainly conveniently located within Celebration and if you exit the town by the backroad you will come out right on 192 just west of the WDW exit. Have a great time!

Robin what is the web address.... this sounds like an interesting site to check out!!! :D

The hotel is fairly new. They admitted they have some "kinks" to work out while we were there.... We had a series of minor to not so minor problems. And it was our honeymoon!! We are pretty laid back, but some of the stuff really got to us after awhile.

The hotel room we had for the first night had a strange running water sound all night. We were tired from our flight. After a long, long (wonderful) day we turned in ....and the sound kept me up all night. (DH can sleep through anything.) I was so tired. I hate to complain. I thought it was my imagination, and later thought I could sleep despite the noise. So the first day of our honeymoon, I had dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep and I was not a happy camper. I called down and spoke with the desk manager about it and was told the air conditioning is powered by a "water flow" design. That yes, in fact I did hear running water all night. (Ugh, of course I thought if they knew it was noisy, why did they give us that room on our honeymoon??!) Anyway, I requested a room where the noise wasn't so bad. And they were accomodating. The second room was nice and was pretty quiet. I slept fine.

We didn't have/want a rental car. We were told that Mears service was provided with the hotel. Well that was partially right. It was provided up to 10:00 am. We slept in one morning and couldn't get the service at all. And the cost is very expensive if you pay for it yourself something in the neighborhood of $40 per trip ($80 for the day). We missed a day at the parks because of that. We made the most of it by walking around the town and catching a movie. It wasn't bad, just not what we originally wanted.

In addition to that, you as a guest could not reserve say 4 Mears trips in a day (one round trip covering the morning, come back to rest at the hotel, and one round trip covering the afternoon/evening). We found that out once we were physically there as guests. Ugh. So we spent quite a few days from 8am (or 9am) till 9pm in the parks. Those are some long days!! One day we were so tired, we just fell asleep on a hammock at the Polynesian Resort. (And wearing a bathing suit under your clothes for a full day wasn't very comfortable.) Quite a few Mears drivers didn't know how to get to Celebration Town. We had to tell them! And there were more than a few times our reserved return trips were screwed up and we were had to call for them and sit and wait late at night.

Lastly, I asked by phone (prior to making our room reservation) if the Mears service was provided to return to the airport for our departure. I was told yes it is. They weren't going to honor that. We were told the person that gave us that information was incorrect. Well, it costs $50 dollars for the Mears service to the airport. Eventually, they did honor what we were quoted. The transportation was awful. They misrepresented the service they actually provided. Anyway, we looked at the bright side of things and made the most out of the trip. The trip was actually a generous wedding present which was already paid for before we got there. Had we paid for it ourselves we would've moved to another hotel.

The year before we stayed at the Polynesian. It was wonderful. We were spoiled by staying in the park, all the conveniences, the theme. It was so nice.

Celebration Hotel was highly recommended to me by a co-worker. I saw the website too, and thought it looked great. Then I was inquiring as to other possible resorts within and around the park and the central reservations desk steered me towards the Celebration Hotel. She said it would be great for a honeymoon and was the most romantic resort ever. In hindsight, I'd have to disagree. It was quaint. They just had too many kinks to work out. We won't be returing.

Of course that's our experience. You may have a different experience. And if you have your own transportation it would help. (Still I thought it was pretty far away from the main parks.) And it was a year ago. So maybe some of those things have been worked out. This year we are going to stay at the Grand Floridian for almost the same thing the Celebration Hotel cost. I'm sure it will be a nicer trip for us.

Hope you have a terrific trip wherever you decide to stay!!

Take Care,
Annemarie

In less than 30 days we'll be at Disney!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

:earseek:Wow, Annemarie!:earseek:

That was some experience! Believe me, I can relate to the Mears problems since I rarely rent a car when I'm in Orlando also.

I'm sure you'll have a better time at the GF, though, huh?

Have a great trip!

I think it'll be nice! It has to be better than the transportation mess last year. We're on the monorail!!

Hope you have a great trip too. Have you checked out: www.mousesavers.com? There are some terrific discount codes there....

Take care,
Annemarie

If I'm not mistaken, these appear to be two different places!

Celebration Hotel is a boutique hotel located at 700 Bloom St. in the town of Celebration, FL.

Celebration World Resort is a timeshare resort located at 7503 Atlantic Way in Kissimmee, FL, adjacent to the town of Celebration.

Ooops! All I had to see was "Celebration" for the memories to trigger! Who knew there was more than one hotel with the name "Celebration" in it? I apologize. My memories were for another hotel altogether. I have no knowledge of the Celebration World Resort!

Pardon me please,
Annemarie
