I just got an email regarding the Harry Potter Celebration.

Has anyone went before? How hard is it to obtain the package and is it better to call or do it online?

Is it crazy crowded?

I am very interested in going and if we decide to do it I want to be sure it is worth it and also that I can get the package!

I went last year and did not buy the package because I found out about it too late. That being said, I am going again this year and NOT booking the package again. I used my APs to book a night at the RP. Saturday we waited in line at the expo for about 1 1/2 hours and then just walked around the park. We happened to be in line at the expo while the Q&A session with the actors was taking place and they had TV screen in line so that you could watch it. I'm happy just going to the expo (different photo opportunities, you can walk around and see props from the films, shop special event merchandise) and then just walking around the parks. There were some other events, but I think they were mostly for kids-like a house meeting and some wand demonstrations. There was an event on Friday night, but I watched something about it on Youtube and didn't feel like I missed much. You should google last year's events and see what interests you to know whether or not you should buy the package. I did not think the crowds were bad, other than the tour groups that I ran into (only saw them at IOA-did not see them in the Universal park where the HP event took place). The ride lines were short with our front of the line passes from the hotel. We thought it was fun just going to the expo and people watching. We also got to meet and take pictures with the Weasley twins (can't think of their names off the top of my head) while we were standing in line at the expo. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Thanks - I see there is a lot of stuff with the package but was wondering if it was worth it or not. There were some parties and such with the package.

Hello...I'm also curious about the packages because they are a bit expensive but I'm willing to try them if the experience is worth it.

The expo and parties are on their own. They don't really change the in-park experience (unless you're having butterbeer behind the 3 Broomsticks and suddenly Evanna Lynch shows up and kindly agrees to pose for pictures with those who asked her). I was there at the same time in 2014 and it really didn't cause crowds in the parks.

I never looked into what I was missing; I wasn't going to buy the package b/c we have APs (in '15 I believe they offered a package for AP holders, but in '14 they didn't) and it's expensive, and as a family we were NOT going to wait in any lines for the events. So we just went about our business.
