Celebration at the Top – Sip, Savor, Sparkle Debuts February 26 at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

by Rachel Bshero, Food & Beverage Marketing Communications Coordinator

Imagine being able to delight in the sparkle of the Magic Kingdom fireworks spectacular from an intimate and private observation deck. Celebration at the Top, a new dining event coming to California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, can be perfectly summed up in three words: savor, sip, sparkle.

Celebration at the Top guests can check in at California Grill an hour before fireworks. After being whisked up to the California Grill, which sits on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, guests will be taken to the intimate and secluded banquet rooms. Enjoy canapés, a selection of sushi rolled by the expert California Grill sushi chefs, a selection of flatbreads and other small plates. A complimentary bar offering craft beers, California wines, cordials and coffee will also be available.

Just before the night spectacular begins, guests will be lead to their private observation deck, which offers stunning views of Magic Kingdom park and the fireworks. After taking in the breathtaking sights and sounds, guests can return to the private room for petit four desserts including decadent chocolate confections and fruit tarts.

Reservations for Celebration at the Top are now open for Thursday evenings from February 26 to March 26. Cost is $99 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Complimentary valet parking is included.

Thanks for the information, not sure this appeals to me but I always appreciate the informative posts!

There's a thread on this somewhere already but the info differed slightly on the day. If it's happening on Thursday nights then I may be interested if DAH isn't going to happen in May. But on the other hand, my Ohana ADR is Thursday night. This seems like a nice alternative to one of the dessert parties.

It's just a copy and paste from Disney, hopefully they are correct but I haven't tried to look at the booking page.

WELL I just looked at the page ................... gotta love DIZZY DISNEY these days. Their event page does not match their announcement.

  • Pricing: $99 plus gratuity and tax per person
  • Dates: Held on select Sundays through March 26, 2017
  • Reservations: Book online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463

I'm just saying that $99 per person would get you a number of canapés, sushi, and flatbread with the ability to select your own preferred beverages. For $99 you could have:
Dragon roll ($25)
Either of the full size flatbreads ($16)
Goat cheese ravioli appetizer ($15)
Chocolate pudding cake ($14)
And $30 worth of drinks which is about the cost of either three cocktails or two glasses of wine there. After that I would be so stuffed and probably have leftovers.

Not to mention my $99 dinner also includes fireworks viewing. What's the selling point on this experience? Am I missing something?

Sorry for my miscalculation... your bar budget would be $29, not $30. I think my point remains unchanged :crazy2:

Come on the private observation deck with its stunning views obviously outweighs the pedestrian views of the peons that dine at CG. Thats surely worth the cost....And Free Valet parking too.

I hope this is not a replacement for the Highway in the Sky Dine Around.

I heartily agree.

Just missing the 20% tip in your calculations...it appears that the tip is included (?) in the $99...still...

It doesn't sound like the $99 price is inclusive of tax/tip.

Huh...is the tip a standard add-on to the other dessert parties? Haven't attended any but seems overmuch for a buffet type of event...though could see it for the bar..not sure I would tip 20%...hmmm

I have a reservation for a thursday night during this time period, will it effect our dinner at all?

I was just thinking this myself. I very VERY much want to book the HITS for September. Fingers crossed.

Probably not, it looks to be in one of the private dining rooms. Enjoy your dinner and the included fireworks :flower3: such a lovely meal!

As a previous poster mentioned, I was operating on the provided information that gratuity was not included when I did my math post. Nevertheless you could cut $20 from the $99 and I'll still take the standard reservation and menu. No way I could eat $99 worth of food and if I drank my money's worth I'd fall off the observation deck...

Ha! I love Josh. And that math looks familiar :rolleyes1 it's even more egregious when you see what $199 would get you for two people instead of $99 for just one

Worth noting....

The Banquet Rooms are to the LEFT, and BACK toward the east, of the elevator as one goes up.
The observation deck CLOSEST to the Banquet Rooms (the Sonoma room in particular, as shown in the review) is the rear/eastern deck, BEHIND the front, Eastern Deck. Very little difference of the fireworks view. As shown by sign next to Sonoma room in the review? The rear/eastern deck is being used, as virtually no one from the main restaurant tends to use it.

The review confused me a bit.... Sandy and I go to WDW twice per year, April and November. While Wishes USED to be at 9:00 PM - it has generally moved to 10:00 PM. Not quite sure how the reviewer snagged an 8:00 PM wishes..... that would be pretty golden, given a ressie time around 6:30-7:00 PM.

If you are talking about Josh's review ..... He went on Sunday night to CG, Wishes posted 8 pm and he went to the Sparkle event last Tuesday night with Wishes also posted at 8 pm. Wishes were 8 pm tonight ....
