Celebrating Summer STITCH Style--A May/June '12 PTR! NEW TR UP. . .See Last Post

Hi! Just found your trip report and I'm reading along. Had to open a reply just so I could comment as I read.

* My sister is a high school counselor, too. I teach early childhood special ed and she always says she couldn't do my job with the really young ones and I tell her no amount of money could get me to work with teenagers. You guys have a seriously stressful job sometimes. Graduation season is crazy for my sister.
* My youngest daughter is a huge Stitch fan, too. I have no idea how many stuffed Stitch she owns, but we're in the dozens.
* I love your time period. That's when we went our last two trips, but my dh decided we were going the last two weeks of June this time and since he said "two weeks," I'm not arguing.
* We're also doing Universal! We're doing it at the end of our trip, but I'm so excited to see Wizarding World.
* Seriously love the photo of your dh holding your son with the camera all fuzzy in the background. Fellow scrapbooker, here.
* I'm a bag freak. Love new bags. I had mine custom made for the parks, but I was recently introduced to 31 Bags. My older daughter has the same black bag as you. 31 could be really dangerous for me.
* Don't get me started on the whole shopping thing. I cleared a bookcase to hold my goodies for the trip. It's a sickness.
* Also worried about motion sickness and FJ. My son gets horrible motion sickness. Mine is not as bad, but it's there. Hoping to dope us up with ginger, which usually works for both of us, and still ride it. Many times. I'll be so sad if it makes me sick.

Looking forward to reading more. I swore I wasn't going to let myself get wrapped up in another trip report.... and here I am. I bet you're going to have tons of fun and I can't wait to read more about it!

So funny! I started reading your PTR this morning, but the boards were being wonky and wouldn't let me comment. Welcome aboard!

So glad to know that someone has had good experience with the time we are going. We've never been that week, but we are majorly looking forward to it! I don't blame you, though...if i could go for two weeks, I'd go whenever!!

I am like your sister--I am not sure I could work with the little ones. I love what I do, but like her, testing and graduation can be some seriously stressful weeks!

You will love 31 bags and stuff--it's all so pretty and well-made!

Thanks for following along! I'm off to see if it'll let me comment on yours!

COUNTDOWN CELEBRATION!

Last Wednesday (April 11th), we celebrated 50 days ‘til Disney!!

WOOHOOO!!!

After reading all of the great PTRs I’ve read lately, I decided that we needed countdown nights for 50, 40, 30, 20, and 10 days out. This was our first one. I sort of threw it together this week, but we had fun!

We put squares on each morning before we go to work to mark days off our countdown calendar! 50 more days!! (Well, now it's 45, but 50 from that day!)

I decided our nights had to work with things D likes and would “get”! So our first one was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse night!

After we got home from work, I “decorated” the table. These guys were the centerpiece:

And even Mickey was at the table. . .

Everyone had a “Menu” and a Coloring Sheet:

Before dinner, we all colored a Mickey sheet:

D lost interest in coloring pretty quickly. . .I guess since he does it at “school” often. We all finished a little coloring, though:

After we colored, we had a yummy dinner and watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Here are my Goofy guys, ready for Disney:

And of course, me, D, and our favorite duck, ready to go:

It was a fun night, and I learned some things to help get ready for the next one!

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog! Love countdowns!!

I was just reading your trip report and said to my dd, "We should totally do something for our 10 day countdowns, too." Then I grabbed my phone and realized TONIGHT IS OUR 60 DAY MARK! We had half price burgers from the local burger place and tonight we have a choir concert for my youngest dd. So not a celebration.

Totally going to run with this idea, though. It's a great one!

Happy 60 Days!!!! I definitely think you should do the 10-day countdown celebrations!! 10 days to get ready for the next one!!

OK, now I have to count my days.... in days not months!!! LOL

I'm running to the store tomorrow for my clothes pins so we can make out countdown calendar this Friday (built in snow day)....

Maybe we can do 10 day special events.. well, have to see how things fall w/ the end fo school year, NHS inductions, PROM, and soccer season games! LOL

OOOHHH!! We are at 68 days as of tonight!!! Good thing my countdown calendar starts at 30... (the one we are making)..means I'll mark the calendar for the other nights!

Nan, you should definitely do the 10 day thing! Some of ours fell on crazy nights (like the night during testing when I knew I'd be ready to drop!), so I just adjusted the "activities". ;) I can't wait to see your countdown calendar!!

How fun!!!
I know we need to post our Disney Nights too. Trying to do them on Sundays since we have to coordinate between all of us. Yours looked like so much fun :) Love all the pics, thanks for sharing.
Your countdown calendar is so cute!! Must be so awesome to see your days clicking away. I'm still noodling ideas around in my head but next week it's due up :scared1: so I gotta get crackin!!

Yay for it being almost time for the calendar!! I've laughed at my dork self. . .doing the every-10-days countdown celebration makes them seem like they come so quickly! It really does make me feel like the trip is coming faster! :thumbsup2

Like the countdown calendar---especially the little wildlife squares (the moose and the bears). Fits right in with your Wilderness Lodge stay.

It looks as if your first Disney night was a success! Fun nights!

Our first full park day is ANIMAL KINGDOM! My very favorite park! I don’t know what it is about it, but I love that entire park!

*Tree of Life pic from April 2011.

We hope to grab fastpasses for Kilimanjaro Safaris—my favorite ride! Then, we’ll probably head over and rider swap on Expedition Everest, if it’s not too crowded.

Our other plans today are to see Festival of the Lion King and do the trails at Camp Minnie Mickey. I’d also like to do Maharajah Jungle Trek so that D can see the tigers.

We have also never taken D to play in the Boneyard, so I’d like to do that too! Another first for D will be Kali River Rapids. I’m not really much for water rides, but I think he’ll like it!

Sometime before we leave the park, we’ll definitely head to Rafiki’s and check out the Affection Section. D LOVES petting the animals!

*On our June 2010 trip, D spent 25 minutes playing with the goats! Lol!

We’ll probably spend ½ - ¾ of the day here and then head back to cool off and maybe nap. Most days, D needs a nap, and in that sun, Brian and I probably will too!

Next Up: Day 4 Dining

So cute that D loved playing with the goats for such a long time!

Great family pic of you guys during your 2011 trip! :)

I told Brian while we were there that we had goats in Tennessee....they just must be more fascinating in Florida! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the compliment! I drag them to every PhotoPass location I can find! ;)

Our first day tradition is also Animal Kingdom!!
We love that park!

Love the photo of ya'll at AK in your Tennesee ORANGE!!!
I especially love the photo of D w/ the goats!!! 25 minutes of free entertainment! :woohoo:

You all have such cute pictures, what a sweet family :)
I'm sure I'll be visiting the goats at our local zoo this summer with the nieces, but probably not AK. Though we will hit the bone yard :) And our first full day will be AK too, well for half the day :rotfl2: on Memorial Day :)

You know how much I love AK!! ::yes:: The funny thing about those shirts is that we changed before we went back out that night. A lady on the bus said, "Hi! Aren't you the family in the orange this morning?". :rotfl2: Yes, D was a fan of the goats! He wanted to take one home! ;)

Aww, thanks!! We have lots of fun! No goats at AK? ;) D would tell you you're missing out!! :rotfl: Though I think that when he discovers the Boneyard, he won't want to go back to see the goats!!

Bring D up the 4H fair... we have friends that show goats and they'll be happy to let him walk them around and help water and feed!!!!
