My husband (41) and I (33) are hoping to leave for WDW next Friday 9/20 til 9/29. We will be at the Happiest Place on Earth during what was a horrific time for us last year: I found my husband comatose, seizing and struggling to breathe. He was on life support for 3 days with organs shutting down and several scares. He eventually started to respond to 1 step commands. Watching your husband wiggle his toes can be pretty exciting!! He slowly became more coherent and was discharged after 10 days. It was miraculous. Aside from some issues, he is doing extremely well.
We both love WDW as it brings us so much joy and a departure from our everyday lives. We went for our honeymoon in 2006 and this will be our 5th visit since being married.
I am disabled and have a neurological disease among other illnesses that keeps me bed bound most of the year. When we go to WDW, I am not healthy enough to do what the average WDW-er does and spend most of the time in the resort hotel room. But even that brings so much joy: the Magical Express, the anticipation of a new resort we haven't stayed at, the theming of WDW in general that takes us to another world, the absolutely delicious food. Even when I can't go, restaurants like Cali Grill & Le Cellier have given my husband food to bring back to the resort to me! Some people question why we would choose WDW when a different type of vaca might be better for my body. But, we are gonna keep going to WDW as long we can!! It brings us joy!
We have planned a celebration Illumination cruise to celebrate my husband's life and I have arranged an in-room surprise for my husband (among others).
I'm really thrilled and bursting with excitement, but as with anything, we never know if I will be able to go until the departure day arrives and my body decides whether I am well enough to make the plane trip (from Chicago-land) to MCO.
We have canceled trips before, as recently as May 2013 last minute b/c of my health issues/hospitalization. I'm new to contributing on DisBoards and we could use some cheering on, happy dancing and good vibes as we attempt to go a week from today.
I just want to give my husband an incredible gift by being at WDW this year. He really deserves it! But, if it doesn't happen, we will celebrate at home.
