After yesterdays less than stellar day at AK I was looking forward to a new day at MGM. We
began the day with an early entry ride on Rockin' Roller Coaster. Well, actually, Ben and Mark started the day at RNR. Although my Dad developed an obsession with transportation this trip he opted out of RNR at the last minute! Guess it sounded like just a little too much for him We waited in the gift shop and began our buying spree for the day! I think we spent more on souvenirs at this park than any other.
After RNR we headed toward Starring Rolls for a quick breakfast. I had to stop in the villian shop on the way because I was in search of a t-shirt I had seen on another guest. It was purple and had the female disney villians on it and the caption read Bad Girls! I got lucky and found it in the shop. Even in South Bend, IN I still get comments on it when ever I wear it
After a quick bite to eat Ben and Mark decide to do Star Tours. Dad and I get motion sick in simulators so we opted out. Instead Mom, Dad, Andy and I took a ride to Catastrophe Canyon! I love this ride although Andy got a bit bored by the end. But we all learned something new this time. Did you know that the earful tower is as high as the drop in TOT??? Yicks!!!
Using our 2 way radios we met up with Mark and Ben at the exit and all went to see Doug Live! For some reason we had never seen this show before and I was really impressed. It was great fun for all of us, even my parents who had never seen Doug before. After the show we headed over to Sci-Fi to see if we could get a seat for lunch. No such luck. The earliest we could get a car (table) was 4:00! So we went to choice number 2 and ate once again at Pizza Planet. Upstairs seating is somewhat quiet and I enjoyed the break. As I mentioned in the cast line up I am currently in therapy for panic attacks. I did fine on this trip but I had to take small breaks during the day to catch my breat (read: take a few deep breaths and close my eyes!)
After lunch we went to see Beauty and the Beast. This was also our first time to see this show and I was so excited that yes, I cried It was wonderful, even the singers that entertained the crowd before the show began. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! But after this the boys were ready to go back for a swim and Ben and Dad were itching to try out the fishing hole at DL.
Mark, Mom, Andy and I went to the quiet pool so I could do a load of white wash and try to get yesterday's hot chocolate spill out of my sweatshirt while Dad and Ben went to catch dinner. (HAH!)
Luckily we had ressies at 1900 Park Fare for the Villians Dinner since Ben and Dad were unsuccessful in their quest This was our first time at this Villians Dinner and I will say right now it topped our list of favorites! We saw the Queen of Hearts at the doorway. She doesn't circulate around the room because there is no way her skirt could make it around the tables! After we were seated near the wonderful, fabulous buffet we were visited by Captain Hook. I tried the old, tired line about hearing a tick tock and the Captain responded by slamming his hook down on the table. The boys thought that was great fun and really got into the theme of things. They played along with the characters and the interaction was fantastic Next came Gov. Radcliffe and then Cruella who is a face character and really into her role as an evil person. The table next to us was a little put off by her and got up and left! But we loved every minute of it. To each is own I guess. I, for example, would hate being picked on at Prime Time. Captain Hook came by again and we had finished eating but still had not seen Prince John. I flagged down our waiter who said he would send Prince John over...we waited and waited and no Prince John. Mark found our waiter and we tried again. Finally, Prince John graced us with his presence and it was well worth the wait. He walked up behind my dad and rubbed his head like he was shining it up (dad is bald on top) then he made Andy get on his knees and beg for an autograph! I was taking the pictures and when I finished Prince John motioned for my hand. I actually thought he was going to kiss it but no, he was trying to get my diamond ring off my finger
We all agreed that this character meal is great, especially when you have boys. We headed back to DL and went to bed early to prepare for our last day
Next up: Dad experiences the ultimate in transportation at Richard Petty's Driving Experience and we attempt a better day at AK.
