This days report is entitled What Sound DOES a Warthog Make and What Form of Transportation will Dad Discover Today. For those of you who have not read the other installments of the report some explanation is needed. My dad developed an obsession will all types of disney transportation this trip! It became quite amusing for Mark and I although we would never tease my dad. Sometimes though it became a bit of a pain when getting from one place to another became a game of how many types of transportation we could experience :)

I was up early this morning in anticipation of my day at Animal Kingdom. This is my favorite park and I couldn't wait to show it to my parents as this was their first time.

We got there in time for the park opening but the lines were tremendously long already. We explained to my parents that our plan called for us to hit the safari first and that it would require moving pretty fast through the park but we would backtrack and slow down after the ride.

Apparently my parents did not understand. They would not hurry....not even a faster pace then usual. Mark and I told each other not to worry that this is a vacation and it would be o.k. We made it to the safari and waited 45 minutes for our ride. The wait was really worth it! We had the best safari driver we have ever had before. He took his time, pointed out many animals and even stopped for us to take pictures. He wasnt' really into the big red story line and that was fine with me. I took the time to thank him at the end of the ride. He made the safari even better than usual.

Next the plan called for us to head over to Dinosaur for Mark, Ben, Mom and Dad. Andy and I would wait in the boneyard for them to ride. But first my parents stopped for coffee...then the restroom....then to buy some pins for the boys...then for popcorn and hot chocolate...We didn't make it past the tree of life when I realized we would miss the first Lion King Show if we didn't head there now. So we backtracked over to Camp Minnie-Mickey. I was really feeling frustrated by now and of course this is the time my son spills his hot chocolate all over my white sweatshirt :(. I swear my parents slowed down even more! I breathed a sigh of relief when we actually made it to the Lion King show on time.

We were seated in the warthog section right in the second row. I took a few minutes to take a deep breath and readjust my attitude. Feeling a bit better I realized what great seats we had. Perfect for viewing the show and Timon actually shook Andy's hand. He was so excited :)

After the show we realized we had 1 hour before our ressie at RFC. We figured we had time to do Dinosaur before eating so we headed over to Dinoland. Once again my parents slowwwwwwwed down. It took 40 minutes to make it to Dinoland!!! Obviously we were not going to have make it. We turned around and headed once again back across the park to the RFC.

We had a great lunch at Rainforest as usual. This is the one spot Mark always asks to eat at. I used the GC I earned at Mypoints to treat mom and dad to lunch.

After lunch we decided to head over to Asia to ride Kali (no more Dinosaur attempts today :))
We had a great time on this ride. We all wore ponchos so nobody got really soaked. After this we decided to leave and head over to Typhoon Lagoon.

I was very disappointed in how this day was going. I really didn't feel we experienced AK. No Dinosaur, no ITTBAB, no Tarzan. I shed a few tears behind their backs but on to the water park.

At TL we changed into our suits and headed toward the wave pool. We couldn't find any chairs but we found a safe, dry place for our towels and headed into the pool. Everyone really enjoyed about 20 minutes in the wave pool and then my parents got out. We felt bad since they seemed to be done so we got out also and suggested we head over to the water slides. Seems after we got there they didn't feel like doing any slides so just Mark and Ben went up to do one slide. When they came down my Dad suggested we go back to the hotel and swim at the main pool. Off we go.

Back at the main pool Mark and I got a couple of drinks from the bar and talked about the day. I think it is time for the families to take a break from each other. This is not the first trip we have taken with my parents in fact we have taken many with them. This day just really wasn't going well. We decided to take it easy for dinner and head over to Coronado Springs to the food court. This is where we will be staying during our Nov. 2001 trip and we wanted to show my parents the resort. While they liked the resort just fine my Dad HATED the food court on sight! He didn't like how it was set up or the food choices. This is not a good sign for the evening.

After dinner we headed over to DD to do some shopping. As soon as we parked the car I told my parents that the kids wanted to shop at the Lego store and if they wanted we could meet up later. My dad jumped right on the suggestion and said not to worry he thought he and Mom would take the boat back to DL. And there you have it....Dad has discovered a new form of transportation for today and is as happy as a clam :)

We split up and Mark and I and the boys did some major damage to the AmEx card! We hit every store and headed back to DL very tired and very cold. We had a 30 degree temperature change since this morning and it was downright chilly! I thought about my parents on that boat and hoped they would be o.k.

When we got back to the room the boys began putting thier legos together and I got ready for bed and fell asleep right away! My parents got back and visited with the boys in our room for awhile but I slept through the whole thing! Guess I was just a bit tired :)

Tomorrow is our last full day and it will be spent at MGM. Please let it be better than today!

Next up, Day 5 - MGM, fishing at the Ole' Fishing Hole and why does Prince John want my hand?

I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to really enjoy AK or TL. I would find it very difficult to vacation with extended family. I like to go at my pace and I'm not very flexible sometimes. :D

I hope tomorrow works out better for you.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us, Lisa. :)

Your day show how truly flexible we must be sometimes. I have traveled with extended family and found it sometimes to be very rewarding and others, a very trying time. How great it was that you were able to hold things together and make it through the day. I am sure that your parents and your children will look back on that day and think what a great time they had.

I've enjoyed your reports.

Never have figured out the warthog sound yet. Thanks for posting!
