Well, it is now April, and I can say that I graduate college and go to disney next month!!! Somehow, by saying "next month" it makes everything seem closer!
First, a bit of background--My freshmen year of college, i went to a school ab out 3 hours away from my house--i hated it and left after the first semester--but there was one friend that i still kept in contact with. Kristen and I only see each other a few times a year, so a couple of years ago, i convinced her to go to Disney with me after our semester was over.
We went in May of 2005 and had an amazing time!! We immediatly talked about "next time we go.."
Here it is, almost two years later and now we are planning on going again! It started in September, after our senior year of college started..We were talking one night and decided we should try to go to Disney as our graduation presents to ourselves..We decided to keep our dates open and just watch for airfare prices..Then, one day in December, I got an email from Spirit airlines announcing a red light sale that would expire that night--Using the discount, round trip cost would be 113.00 each! I tried calling Kristen all day and no answer
It was driving me crazy!! Finally, as I had given up, she called back..We talked about the trip and decided to go ahead and book the airfare...we tried, and the dates we wanted werent available (May 16)..We gave up and then her dad realized our dates werent set in stone so he tried other dates and BINGO!! We were booked and ready to go!!! Of course, this is December and we arent leaving til May 17 (til the 22nd)--so the waiting begins!
The next day, we decided to stay at POP century, which is where we had stayed the last time we went. I called the next day and booked that..
THen it hit me, We were actually going to celebrate our college graduation in Disney!!
Over the next few months-we just talked about how great this trip is going to be...We are both student teaching right now and somedays this trip is all that is getting us through!! Then, one d ay after teaching, i get an email that the airline has changed both of our flights..Our departing flight was supposed to leave at 7am, and now isnt leaving til 1pm..Basically losing part of a park day! Then our departing flight was changed by alot too...I called the airline and they said we could change flights without a price change..So after talking with Kristen, we decided to stay an extra day and come home on the 23rd instead!!
Now, here it is, APRIL 1! Graduation and the trip are starting to feel closer-there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Kristen and I are CONSTANTLY talking about this trip..I even got her hooked on the disboards, so im sure she will be coming to post too! Now, I havent seen Kristen since last summer so this is going to be such a great trip--we are actually celebrating both our bdays (mines oct, hers is july) and Christmas and exchanging presents before we leave!
I cant think of a better way to celebrate graduating from college than going to Disneyworld..The waiting is starting to be unbearable so i am hoping this pre trip report will help!!
