We're considering taking a cruise on October 22nd, and my daughter's birthday will be on the 25th. She'll be turining 4. Is there anything special that can be done on the ship?

Thanks,

Scott

We've celebrated DD bday that past three years on board. They have a special cake and sing happy birthday.

The best thing is to let your travel agent or the cruise line know about your child's birthday. You can also purchase a birthday gift package that include the banners and cabin decoration. In addition the dinning room staff also sing happy birthday, but after hearing this sung to so many other guests it doesn't always seem so unique.
I'm planning to purchase a large birthday card for my DD. I'll be leaving it at the guest services desk for the characters to sign.
Hope this helps.

i read on another thread, that someone celebrated their DD's birthday...i think princess style? at one of the restaurants, during "off time". this person had invited other DISers' kids, and it sounded like lots of fun. from what i recall from reading that thread...that person contacted gs, soon after boarding, or maybe the next day, and did all the coordination stuff with them. and also informed the person at the restaurant (not the head waiter, but the person above him, i think...)

hope this helps...i'm sorry i couldn't come up with the specific thread...maybe if you do a search? i think it was one of the west coast cruises...maybe you can post a question about who had done it? i know it was really recent, cuz i just read about it...good luck!! :flower:

I have finally talked DH into a Nov , 4 Day, Wonder cruise for the family. My DS's birthday will be about 2 days after the cruise. Would it be bad to try to celebrate his birthday a few days early on board?

We were one of the lucky few to get to go to the princess party for Hannah onboard. Her mom contacted GS right after boarding and set up the whole thing (and it was a surprise party for Hannah!). GS arranged for the use of Animators in the afternoon, arranged for food for the girls, arranged to have princess costumes hanging in the area for decorations and arranged for cupcakes to decorate. Hannah's mom brought on board a pinata (how do you hide that from the kids???), treat bags, princess decorations and coloring things. This actually ended up being the best DISer get-together on the cruise and was lots of fun! Hannah ended up having about 10 girls there b/w the big group of 5-7 DIS girls and a couple of extra new friends on board.

oh...if I remember correctly from what Joy said, the only request she made that was NOT honored was the appearance of a princess at the party...she totally understood that and it was a great party w/all our short princesses!

I don't think it would be a problem celebrating his birthday early.

My TA noticed that my DD birthday was close to our cruise dates and suggested the birthday mention on board the ship. Her birthday is on a school day and I don't want to take her out to miss school.

Also during the other cruises I've been on there are so many Happy Birthdays sung at dinner it makes you wonder about the coincidence.

The only problem with the child is that the celebration is a little early and they will definately notice that

We will be leaving a day before his birthday. I thought ti would be cool for him to celebrate on board.

Thanks for the suggestions! We'll be holding her party at home a week early, if we go at that time, so we'll probably just bring some deocrations and have the staff sing for her. So when they start singing, she can get all pouty and turn away from everyone. Hopefully she won't try to push the cake over this year!
