OK, so I just joined DIS last month and I'm delighted by all of the great info and heartfelt camaraderie shown by all of its users! What an amazing resource! :grouphug:
I've read so many great PJs so far and they've helped tremendously. So, now I feel compelled to share my VR planning! We are only 60 days out now but, hey, better late than never right?!?
So, here's a little background:
DH and I are high school sweethearts. We reside in IL but we married in FL on 5/26/01.....at the church MY parents got married in! For the honeymoon, we embarked on our very first, and only (for now ;)), cruise to the Bahamas on Carnival. We absolutely LOVED cruising! We've dreamed of being repeat cruisers but life always seems to get in the way of even the best laid plans. We have 2 handsome sons, Matthew 9 and Nicholas 7. We became Disney nuts a few years ago when a good friend opened our eyes to the incredible world of endless possibilities and pixie dust. Can you believe neither I nor DH had EVER been to the World?!? Not even as children!! :scared1:
Now, we are caught in this giant mouse-trap and I find myself growing "home sick" if we don't visit at least twice a year! With our 10 yr anniversary quickly approaching, I decided we needed to make this special. We live in a society where HALF of all marriages end in divorce. This milestone definitely called for a celebration of epic proportion! So, I figured, why not combine my love of Disney with my love of cruising! Thus, our dream of a DCL VR was born....

Well, it's after midnight so this will have to conclude my very first PJ entry! It's much too late to be glued to this computer screen! :surfweb:

I'll post a few pics tomorrow if someone can PM me and let me know how to make them show up in a post. Also, how do I put a link to my PJ in my signature so ppl can find me? I'm still new to the concept of "forums" so pls bear with me! ;)

Hi and Welcome!

Its probably best that someone more experinced answeres the ict questions! lol

I totally agree with you when you say about 50% of marriages ending in divorce! Which is sad and scary for the newbies! :)

Congratulations on your milestone! Cant wait to hear more of your lovely plans! XXX:lovestruc

:flower3:

Welcome to the boards!! Can't wait to hear about your VR plans! :goodvibes

To upload pictures you must first upload them to a photo sharing site like photobucket, etc. Then use the img code that is given to each individual picture ( it will start with that) to share them with everyone.

To edit your signature go to the top right where your information is and click on the private messages, once there on the left hand side you can edit many things. Good luck! Hope this helps a little bit, I'm not the greatest at explaining things:confused3

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I'm so excited to share my planning experience with you. :lovestruc

Ok, so here is the plan so far:
It's a Cinderella themed VR because I'm a major princess!
I love to be over-dressed and will probably remain over-dressed for all dinners on the ship. So, if you're cruising with us in May, be ready to see me in a ball gown at all times! Or, at least something more formal than a sundress..... lol
Here are pictures of the items I've collected so far:
DH will wear a tux with pink tie/vest. DS's will be ring bearers. I'd like to make a glass slipper pillow for them each to carry and put the "wedding bands" inside the shoe. They will wear blk suits with pink shirts and blk/pnk ties. My dress is pink w/ jewels. It's hard to tell from the photo but it weighs a million pounds and has 10 layers of tulle. I'll likely stand sideways in an attempt to fit through doorways! lol
I have "glass" slippers featuring a large glitter heart at the toe. I will also wear a tiara and the jewelry pictured below. princess:

I love the dress!! It's gorgeous and different !! :)
The shoes are awesome!! Everything looks great!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone!! I'm so excited! :lovestruc

KristiLyn ~ Thanks! I thought so too! I just love the fact that it's different! I really didn't want to wear white since I'm technically not getting "married" again. AND pink is my favorite color! I just fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it! They had it on a mannequin during last year's prom season. It was almost $500! :scared1:

Oh my, how things have changed! When I was in HS, I was lucky to get a $100 prom dress. I can't believe the money that is spent on young ppl these days.
Anyway, I couldn't justify spending that much, since I'd already paid DFTW so much for the VR ceremony! But, against my better judgment, I took it to a dressing room and tried it on. Yep, BIG mistake! I was hooked! I felt just like a princess so I knew it was the right dress for the occasion. Ugh, but that's a lot of money. My WEDDING dress only cost $600!!
So, unwilling to cough up that kind of cash, I reluctantly hung it back on the rack. :sad1:
Thankfully, everyone else in my town is either broke or agrees with my earlier rant regarding teens and exspensive attire.....because prom had come and gone and that dress, in MY size, found its way to the clearance rack for less than $200!! :woohoo:
It was fate!!! And now that very dress is slated for our May 15th cruise! :cloud9:

Beautiful Dress, you will truely look like a princess! Are you going to wear white long gloves? Sounds like wonderful plans...and don't feel bad, my DHs first trip to WDW was in 2008, when he was 45!! The next visit was 2009 when we got married at SOG...now we are DVC owners and go at least twice a year too!! :rotfl:

Thanks, ladies!
I know, sales are the best! I was elated! I mean, seriously, what are the odds?!? I just remember thinking, "It will be mine. Oh, yes. It will be mine!" :rotfl2:
Nope, no white gloves for this princess. I actually tried them for my HS prom and I remember taking them off about halfway through it. I didn't like the way they felt and I haven't wanted to wear any since.
So, glad to know we aren't the only "late bloomers"
We took the DVC tour on our last trip to the World. Still haven't been able to talk DH into it yet. How do you like it? Has it been worth it?

I love the dress! It is beautiful! The shoes are perfect as well! I am looking forward to following along and hearing all about your VR!!

Thank you! I definitely love the shoes - just wish they were more comfortable. *sigh* The things we'll endure for the love of the "perfect" shoe! :lovestruc The plastic is pretty uncomfortable and I'm worried it will make my feet hot and sweaty. BUT, that's why I have a back-up plan:
Allow me to introduce my custom, ribbon adorned flip flops! :woohoo:

Well, I have officially submitted my final planning guide to Shanda! She will forward it to the cruise ship, they will make any final approvals and/or adjustments, and then get back to me 45 days before sailing! So, by the first week of April, everything will be set in stone! As of now, I'm only aware of a tentative schedule of events. Heck, at this point, I'm not even guaranteed an exact time or venue on the Dream. All final details must be approved and set up by the ship and worked around the other couple getting married. Shanda can only submit requests and/or suggestions. So, can't wait to be surprised in a few short weeks! princess:

Just got home from shopping!
I've been trying to find DH a matching tie and vest for his tux to coordinate with my dress. BUT I'm having an extremely hard time matching that pink! You'd think pink would be pink, right?!? Ha! That'd be too easy! Nope. Probably doesn't help that pink isn't as prevalent in men's fashion as the rest of the color spectrum. I actually had to go out of town, today, b/c I had exhausted all of the formal wear stores in our smallish town. So, to recap, I've seen this vast array of PINKS to no avail:
Bubblegum, Rose, Fuchsia, Hot Pink, Baby Pink, Light Pink, Magenta, Cotton Candy, and Blush!
Ugh, I'm just going to have to settle on something! But, it's just not in my nature to do so! I'm such a perfectionist! This one little detail is sure to drive me nuts. Where is my fairy godmother?!?!? :wizard:

OH! Almost forgot! Here's something POSITIVE:
I have finally collected all of the materials for my mickey pomander and my mickey topiary!! I'll post pics in a few days..... princess:

I loved buying my DH ties when he wore nice clothes every day. I found that J.C. Penney has a really good selection. Good luck...so exactly which pink is it? :rotfl2:

Well, it's closest to Bubblegum actually. LOL :rotfl2:
I'll probably just end up going with that. It'll be practically hidden under that black tux so I don't know why I'm being such a spaz.
