Hello gang, I'm overwhelmed at the amount of great info here, you guys know your stuff! :worship: Wish I had found you first, saved me some stress!!

My question is about taking your own snack food to the US on Cdn flights, we want to rush a Brfst in our room every day so we want to take our own pre packaged foods like bagels, PB and J, pudding cups, granola bars etc. I know we aren't alowed fresh fruit/ seeds etc, but are we okay with store bought and home baked breads, sealed and stored in our checked luggage of course. It sure would save us a bundle of time and cash.

Thanks

As long as it is in your checked luggage, you'll be fine! Have a fabulous time.

Hi Hera, just a thought, but have you considered going to some one like http://gardengrocer.com/ or http://wegoshop.com/ ?
Theyre prices may be a lil higher than the local Walmart but they will deliver direct to your hotel room. Im always leary of packing anything that may get busted or on our clothes in a suitcase plus with all the luggage restrictions and baggage fees charged today it may well cost you to bring your own snacks ect from home.
The other thing to consider is if your using the dinning plan and your family is like ours breakfast is a good way to use up those pesky snack credits,:cool1:
No matter what you decide have a good trip!

gardengrocer etc is a good call ... add bottle water to your order too!

Thanks guys, No dining plan as we are going for a short trip so budget all the way!

Love the idea of having groceries delivered to our room but since it's a short trip we can do four breakfasts out of our suitcases on a dime ;)

A few dollars saved at breakfast everyday will allow us to eat grand in the parks for lunch and supper without going into the red.
:cheer2:

We did the same earlier this year. We put an entire container of breakfast/snack foods into our checked luggage. But I was pretty paranoid, so just to make sure, I only packed things that were prepackaged & sealed up. Even so, there was a lot of stuff that we were able to bring:

cereals
instant oatmeal
granola bars
fruit chews & gummies
cracker 'n' cheese snack packs
microwave popcorn packs
mixed nuts & dried fruits
pudding cups
yogos
peanut butter, honey & jams in individual sealed packets

We didn't attempt to bring any baked goods, so I can't tell you how that would work. I'd like to hear if anyone else has brought bagels or muffins. We're only going for 5 days, so I'd probably take some baked goods if I could get away with it.... does anyone know?

I've packed bagels, PB and J, Nutella as well as cereal, granola bars, Mac n' cheese, etc. into our checked luggage and it was okay.

You save a bundle in the parks (even w/DDP) if you carry snacks with you so the kids are snacking throughout the day. popcorn::

What food you can/cannot bring is not dependent on whether it is in your checked luggage or your carry-on (other than the liquid ban). Because the OP is crossing a border, the restrictions are due to US agriculture laws (regardless of where the food is carried).

The stuff listed in the OP seems fine:
