CDN penny composition

I can't believe I'm actually posting a question about the composition of a CDN penny but it IS Disney LOL!

Everyone is saying to use '82 or earlier pennies for the US but what about CDN pennies? Are there better years to use (ie higher copper content/lower zinc)?

I want to start cleaning them (oh my!)

Funny but we googled this question for another reason. 1996 and older Canadian Pennies have the higher copper content.

P.S. They also work well in fountains and birdbaths as they inhibit Algae growth!
