CDC says guidance still to come on whether U.S. to require land-border COVID-19 test

Jeez - they'd better hurry up. I know a handful of people already making plans to cross at midnight on the 8th, and they have not factored testing in. 😬

Yep. Americans don’t need any test to enter the USA, I wonder if that will change then too? Either way I have both of the boys US birth certificates ready to go if necessary

This is a dealbreaker for most traveling for non-essential reasons. By the time the test has to be taken it’s way too late to back out of anything and get any type of refund.

The background presser that was held for the new international travelers by air requirements had some info about the land border. See https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...covid-19-and-international-air-travel-policy/

And the second question is: You said in the next couple of days we’ll get some guidance for the land travel. Are we expecting for those guidances to mirror basically what you’ve said today?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: [Senior administration official], do you want to do that one? I don’t want to prejudge any (inaudible).

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Yeah, absolutely. We are following the exact same CDC guidelines. CBP is working to finalize the procedures that will be used at the land port of entries. And we should get that out in the next couple days.

And earlier in the presser they stated "As previously announced, the land border requirements will be similar to the air travel, with foreign national travelers to the U.S. for nonessential reasons, like tourism, required to be fully vaccinated starting on November 8th."
