I’m anxiously awaiting May 1. More and more of my friends and family have received their shots and I’m over here with no qualifying health problems, no qualifying career, and only 40 years young. I’m having severe shot envy.

I can’t decide if I’m actually upset that I’m a non-overweight, healthy, non-smoking engineer. 😂

Will provide a more thorough update tomorrow, but great Saturday #s. Cases fall from 55,500 last Saturday to 48,000 this week. Deaths fall from 1,500 to 1,000 this Saturday. 7 day moving avg for deaths falls from 1800 to 1300, 7 day moving avg for cases falls from 61,500 to 55,300 week to week. Numbers appear to be in steep decline again. No plateau here, Dr. Fauci!

California is opening eligibility to 16+ with severe health conditions on Monday, but my county just announced that they’re including basically any health condition, including BMI 25 and up (whereas the state said 40 and up). They’re also not requiring proof of medical conditions (citing privacy concerns), so in reality this probably opens it to most people. I assume they’re doing this because they think they have sufficient supply coming. 🤷‍♀️ My husband just squeaks by on BMI so I’m very happy about that (which sounds weird!!).

What county is this?

That’s amazing! I wish I understood the metrics though. Our county has cancelled a ton of first doses over the next week and a half before we’re only getting a fraction of what we’re supposed to.

San Diego. It’s not been advertised, the guidelines were just quietly updated this morning or last night. I’m not sure their reasoning, unless they just figure everyone will make appointments anyway, so they might as well open the flood gates.

It is so frustrating! I have people around me getting their shots too and I am so jealous. I am happy for them as I see them booking travel and getting their lives back, but man it's hard to sit on the sidelines when others are jumping into the game. I unfortunately do have health issues, but not qualifying ones. I just hope when May comes around I won't have problems getting an appt

I’ll be the last one in my family to be vaccinated and I have the highest risk job. It doesn’t help that my mother calls me every day and asks why I haven’t been vaccinated yet. My brother, who lives in Minneapolis, received his first dose last week. He’s a lawyer for a restaurant chain. Somehow he’s eligible but me, who actually comes in contact with people, am not.

I'm with you. Yesterday my 22 yo DD was able to get an appointment in another state for early April. Here, I'm still waiting to be able to pre-register!

Still trending down. Still don’t see the plateau that Fauci sees. Let’s hope another week of lowering trends.

Does anyone know where to find current hospitalizations now that the Covid tracking site is done?

I keep reading that many states are having an increase in cases. Then I read Italy is going into lockdown. I really hope there is no 3 wave. Or are we on 4th wave. Either way, I hope this is just a blip and things start trending downward.

A twitter account called “TheLawyerCraig”. He’s good.

Rumor on the news this morning is that Ohio will open up to 40+ this week. I would guess on Thursday since that is the day that they used for 60+ and 50+. I am sure we will know something later today.

Also some news on the CSU Wolstien Centers mass vaccination site. It will be 3 weeks of first doses of Pfizer, 3 weeks of the 2nd dose, then 2 weeks of J & J. I was expecting 8 weeks of new people being vaccinated. So not as many people as I thought it would be. It will still be a lot as it is 6,000 a day, 7 days a week. So that would be 126,000 for Pfizer and 84,000 for J & J. This is also a very central location in Cleveland and a hub for public transportation so will be easier to get to for some.

US cases fall 17% Sunday to to Sunday from 44,800 to 36,800. Yesterday marked the lowest case total since September 9th.

7 day avg falls again to 54,300, down from 60,000 a week ago.

Fear mongers went from telling us we'd soon see a surge to telling us that we were seeing a plateau, neither is true. Cases are essentially in a very steady descent. 7 day avg deaths fell from 1700 to 1,290.

Cases on Sundays:

1/3: 201,000
1/10: 221,000
1/17: 177,000
1/24: 143,000
1/31: 111,000
2/7: 91,000
2/14: 66,000
2/21: 58,000
2/28: 53,000
3/7: 44,000
3/14: 36,000

I go to the clinical trial screening appointment Monday morning. After reading through the 35 page consent form, I have a LOT of questions and am not 100% sure I will participate. However, I will have the chance to ask all my questions and just find out if I actually qualify, and they will pay me $225 for the visit, so even if it's not for me, I will get paid for my time.
I have run clinical trials for a living for the past 18 years and this is a bit crazy. I'm very surprised with the amount of money people are claiming they are getting for participation in these trials. This seems very excessive as the norm is about $25 per visit. You can get more if there is more involved in the visit or the time of the visit is extremely long but I can't see how this got by the ethics committee. Seems like it is coercive.
