CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

I am absolutely certain we WILL ramp up shots per day. By a lot. Look at testing. In ten months we went from 200,000 to 2 million per day. The same will happen here.

It would be nice as cases and testing goes down due to more vaccinated if some of those testing centers can be converted to vaccine centers....hopefully that day gets here sooner rather than later.

Ours is LTC..which they already have started. Not all healthcare workers..not by a long shot, have been given the opportunity to get it in my state.

Same here. One large hospital group in my city—2 full service hospitals and 3 other outpatient/ day surgery centers—are scheduled to begin next week, they haven’t even started. My MIL is in a independent senior living complex and they got a letter that they may start in 3 weeks.

Our governor had a press conference at 10 am today CST. They are going to start with 1b on Monday. Seniors 70 and above are included in 1b, along with the rest of 1b recommended by the CDC. 100 pharmacies throughout the state will be authorized to give vaccines by appointment. We were notified by the CEO of the CCRC where my mom lives that Walgreens is coming in on 1/8/2021 to give vaccines to front line nursing staff and residents in the 24 hour nursing units if they opt in. We still don’t have a date for when my mom in assisted living will receive hers there but it will be at least 14 more days as the pharmacy has that amount time to let them know they are ready to proceed. The consent forms are filled out and turned in for any resident that opted in. The facility is not disclosing what percentage of the staff have opted in, and I really don’t expect them to.

I'm not sure if peeps knew about the WI situation where the pharmacist intentionally left out what is now about 570 doses from the fridge but now they've found out the doses were left out even longer than originally thought AND that 57 doses were used from that box of doses. They've now notified those patients that they may not have the level of protection assumed to have.

The fact that we have to worry about that kind of stuff even happening on top of the distribution and number of available doses for each group and all the rest of the stuff, there's just no words for that.

The have you gotten a covid vaccine thread is where I heard about the update to it with some doses actually being administered. So agree with you I'm hoping for a much better 2021 that's for sure.

The pharmacist has already been fired, arrested and charges recommended to the County Attorney. I imagine we will hear much more about this on Monday when they make an initial appearance. This happened in Grafton, WI. A fairly affluent suburb of Milwaukee. Here is the local Milwaukee news coverage.

That story out of Milwaukee didn't have it, but the one I posted in one of the other threads from Green Bay did.

Police are recommending charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Adulterating a Prescription Drug, and Criminal Damage to Property.

These are the state charges, I would certainly expect that there will be federal charges as well.

Oh my goodness.

But according to that article those 42 people were offered the vaccine immediately despite health advice from the CDC saying they should wait 90 days at this point (unless research indicates otherwise in the meantime) before getting the vaccine because interaction between the two haven't been studied. That to me isn't good. How do we know these people have the level of expected protection with the vaccine they were offered when it hasn't been studied as such?

There is no shock at all to early bumps in the road. But two things are true:

1. distribution and the rate of vaccinations per day will soon increase dramatically.
2. There are very, very few stories about adverse reactions thus far.

Apparently, his motivation was to somehow show that the vaccine didn’t actually work by giving people the tainted doses. It’s really not a bad plan, aside from making no sense whatsoever and 100% guaranteeing him to be caught.

Hard to avoid sounding political here, but every state in America should immediately go into the next phase of their plans- hospital workers and first responders, you've had your chance. Don't want it? Perfectly fine- now moving on.
