A previous tweet said the state had been expecting a large delivery this week. Can't remember where I saw it. It was retreated from a county health department. May have been a press question at the end of the Tuesday update our governor always gives.

Regardless, we are getting less vaccine next week than we got this week even with a new vaccine as part of the shipments. That's not encouraging.

I’m not at all surprised it didn’t pan out though, between news headlines trying to grab attention, politicians over promising, etc.

But that’s also why the very optimistic time lines in general make me skeptical.

The governor here in MA said today that we got an initial shipment of 58,000 J&J vaccines and he is not expecting any more until the end of the month or early April. People were asking if the J&J shipment could be set aside for educators as we are opening appointments to them on 3/11 but he said they have already been allocated. He is still claiming supply is our number one issue. Hopefully he is correct and the distribution system in place is robust enough to really ramp up when supply starts increasing in April.

My parents lucked out and got an appointment the first week they were eligible (65+) because they got a bit of an inside tip about a place with a reservation system separate from the main state system but my 73 year old uncle still can’t get an appointment so they are still hard to come by here.

Yes. And clearly means maybe next week, maybe after next week.

If someone tells you your package will arrive “as soon as Wednesday”, you assume it might not be there until Thursday or Friday.
