I burnt a CD last night and when it was done it said it was ready to be played in any standard car or stereo CD player. Well, it won't play in either. It won't play in DD's computer either, but it will play in mine. What did I do wrong?

Also, I used a CD-RW, how do I reformat it so it's blank again? I can't find that option on any of my burning software programs. Thanks! :D

I have only used CD-R's to play in the car and they work fine for me...Have you tried just CD-R's, Jules?

I just re-burnt it onto a CD-R and it works fine. Now what do I do with my CD-RWs?

I'm not sure you can. I don't know much about burning CDs, but a friend of mine who does says once you burn one it's burned forever and you can't use that CD again for anything else. He may be wrong though, but that is what he told me.

There should be an option to "reformat" the disc, depending on the software you use (keyword = "should"). You may have to dig to find it tho. If not, you could try burning a small file to it to see if it erases the rest of the data. Or..... use the CD-RW to copy and keep backups of important files from your PC. You can update them every so often as well. You may never need it, but it's better to be safe.... :)

I'd use the rewritables for things that you would use on your computer only, like back ups of files.

This seem like a dumb question, sorry, but I awful with all the tech stuff.

When you say CD-r or CD-RW does this mean the disk or the burner?

I agree with Helenabear, you should use the CD-RW's for backup files...that is what I do anyway! :)

Glad it worked out on the CD-R's!! :)

I downloaded a new burning software program and was able to re-write the disk. I put all my pictures on it so I could get them off of my computer and free up some space.

Grog, CD-R's can't be recorded more than once. CD-RW's can be recorded on multiple times.

Gotcha. Like I said, I know very little about this. When my friend was telling me about burning CDs I don't recall if he mentioned what type it was or not. Thanks :D
