Hello- So in all my previous trips to Disney, I have never done a split stay. I was able to rent DVC points for the 1st 3 nights of my 6 night trip for CCV for a studio so I’m trying to decide where to stay for the 2nd half of my trip. My trip will be in early September after Labor Day and I will be solo. I have some mobility issues so I will be renting a scooter. I have always wanted to stay at WL so I’m excited about trying CCV. On my last couple of trips, I’ve stayed at YC but neither was during F&W so I’m a little nervous about the possible crowds? I’ve also wanted to try staying at a Skyliner resort and since I’ll be solo this trip, maybe this would be the perfect time. I also thought about the Swan and Dolphin but I had heard their buses weren’t as good for accessibility.

Are you wanting to be in the Echo Lake area for Epcot? We're going in Early Sept as well (9/7-9/14) and are staying at YC. Are you wanting DVC or hotel?

I’m open to either DVC or a hotel. The Echo Lake area is my favorite area on property but I keep saying I should try somewhere new.

During F&W, you will find the crowds in EP (particularly on the weekends), but it really wouldn't make YC all that more crowded than other times of the year. If you want to try Swan/Dolphin (we really like the Swan), I would suggest doing your MK and AK days while you are at CCV and doing your EP/DHS days while at YC, Swan or Dolphin, but that would be my advice if you pick any Skyliner resort. You will have much more flexibility with transportation to DHS and EP if you stay at YC, Swan or Dolphin than if you stay at a resort that only offers Skyliner or bus transportation.

Just FYI, by Echo Lake, I think you are referring to Crescent Lake. Echo Lake is inside DHS.

Yes, you are correct It’s Crescent Lake. Sorry, having a senior moment there. I need to do some research on the bus situation at the Swan as that’s my only real hesitation there.

DVC wise you could do Boardwalk or Beach Club, even Riviera. With the Skyliner you could throw in Pop and AoA. Caribbean Beach is pretty spread out. Epcot will get crowded for F&W on weekends especially in the evening. You can get around that by going earlier in the day.

If you go to Swophin from DVC, do you have to move your own luggage? I know if it’s Disney to Disney, they will do for you.

I can’t find a definitive answer if the current Swan/Dolphin buses can still transport a standard size ECV so I’ve emailed their transportation department to confirm. Trying to move my luggage by myself without a car with the scooter might be a dealbreaker if Disney won’t do it.

At the moment, I’m not seeing an DVC availability for my dates but I’ll keep checking. Maybe I’ll get lucky with a confirmed reservation. I would probably lean towards Pop over AoA. I liked the grounds at Caribbean Beach but that was in January when it wasn’t so hot. I would be curious if the new Little Mermaid rooms there might be ready by then though.

I would be visiting Epcot earlier in the day on the weekends as I don’t tend to like the rowdier crowds later in the day on the weekends

We love the Yacht Club and whilst we've never stayed over Food & Wine we have stayed over new year/ WDW marathon weekend numerous times and although the parks are heaving and the hotel has been at capacity, it has never felt crowded anywhere.
