Hi, my fiance and I are going on a 7-night cruise on the Fantasy Dec 5-12 this year, and I was really wondering what the weather is like at Castaway Cay and the Virgin Islands? Are we going to even want to get in the water? Are we going to be cold by the water and not reeeeeally enjoy it? Is the 50$ excursion to Magen's Bay Beach at St.Thomas/St.John worth it in December, or will we be stuck there for 3 hours and cold?
I'd appreciate any help and feedback! This will be my 5th Disney cruise (his 1st Disney cruise), but I have never sailed in the fall or winter months before.

Thanks! :)

We've sailed in December several times. In the USVI, there won't even be a question about the water temps - it will be just fine.

At CC it could be fine or it could be "too cold". Some of that will be dependent on what you are used to and your tolerance. We've never seen people not swimming at CC in our December sailings.

Magen's Bay should be fine in December - the air and water temperature in St. Thomas are pretty consistent year round. Magen's Bay is on the Atlantic Ocean side of St. Thomas, but it is very well protected and quite shallow. As for Castaway Cay, in December the air can be a bit on the cool side - high 70's-low 80's - (but we're from Florida, so anything under 85 is cool). The water is probably mid 70's at that time, so it's ok once you're in it, but can feel a bit nippy when you get out. December is "dry" season down here, so the weather should be fine.
