I need help & some information please. For the past 3 years my husband & I have stayed at POFQ. It is the only Disney Resort we have ever stayed at. Since it is close for now & doesn't appear that it will re-open before our September trip, we are forced to choose another resort. We are trying to decide between POR & CBR. I am slightly familiar with POR because on our last trip to POFQ we walked over to POR & ate in the food court & looked aroung in the gift shop & also somewhat because our buses were shared with POR. I know that the rooms at CBR have been remodled. Is there anyone who has stayed at both resorts that could give me some input. I'm confused & not sure which to choose. I guess fear of the unkown. How is the bus service at both resorts? How are the rooms at both resorts. Which buildings at both resorts would be close to the food courts?(I have rheumatoid arthritis & have good days & bad days so don't want to be too far away.) Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have stayed at both and CBR gets my vote! Especially now that the boat is not running to Downtown Disney from POR anymore.

Have a great trip! ;)

I have stayed at both and cannot say anything bad about either one. I love the Bayous in POR. We requested a building near the food court and the bus stop. It was also a building that could not possibly have a parking lot view. I believe it was building 17. As I recall, CBR did have a stocked fridge which might be a bonus. Although I have heard a lot of negative things about CBR on these boards, I would really like to try it again some day now that it has been redone. I really don't think you will be disappointed with either one...just ask for a room in a location that you feel is convenient and make sure you note on the ressie that it's for medical reasons. POFQ is my favorite moderate. I cannot wait till it re-opens.

I have stayed at all 3 resorts. I am going to be at CBR in april and I think I am going to like it. Seaspray has given it rave reviews. We have liked the food court and the pool at POR but I seem to like the feeling of the mansions more than the bayou so we chose the CBR this trip. My fav is the Poly because of the tropical feel I think that the closest I can get to that would be the CBR. I like the beach and the hammocks they have scattered around the resort. We are renting a car so we won't be using the buses. I have never had much luck with them at any of the resorts. I do so love the monorail though. The CBR has the larger rooms and they also have a nice dressing area and a better set up in the room with regard to storing your things. They also have the coffee pot in the room for your arrival. I think it sounds like a good choice. If you want to see some pictures of the room try Seasprays site. I don't have the address with me right now but I am sure you will be able to get it from her. Happy searching.

I've stayed at POFQ twice and POR once I enjoyed them both but I hope the boats to downtown start running again.

51 days to go!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Below are the links to my web sites. On the first site, I have pictures from my stay last May at CBR, as well as pictures from the Grand Floridian, the parks, and restaurants. The second link goes directly to my new website containing pictures and info from my stay at CBR last month (Feb 2002). You can get to the CBR site from the main "vacations" page, so you might want to do that so you can see all of the pictures.

I have never stayed at POR, but I think I might like the Mansions section. But the tropical theme really appeals to me and CBR carries it off very nicely :)

I have stayed at both PO-Riverside and the Caribbean Beach Resort and you can't go wrong with either one of them. However, because I prefer the caribbean theming over old south, I would have to say CBR is my fave of the the two. But I will break it down:

Theme: As I stated above, I prefer the beach theming of CBR over the old south theme of PO-RS. But that being said, they are both lovely resorts! I am just a big fan of CBR's white sand beaches, the lake and colorful buildings. PO-RS does not have a beach or a lake. The river at PO-RS has been dyed brown to look more like the Mississippi River I would assume. I love water, so I just prefer to lay in a hammock and watch the world go by at CBR!

Food Court: I prefer the one at PO-RS over CBR. Pizza and chicken tenders taste pretty much the same WDWorld Wide but the burgers, breakfast foods, dinners are better at PO-RS in my opinion. Plus you also have the option of eating at Boatrights, a sit-down restaurant that is open for breakfast and dinner and is wonderful! Yes, CBR has Captain's Tavern but their menu is limited and I believe they are open only for dinner. The food court at PO-RS also has a larger seating area where I usually feel a bit crowded in at CBR. Both food courts are noisy, but CBR's seems much noisier.

Transportation: In my experiences, CBR has the better transportation. Less wait for buses, more buses running during busy times etc... But things may have changed since PO-FQ closed and there is no longer one system shared between the two resort.

Pools: About equal IMHO, both are nicely themed. It seems the quiet pools at CBR are less crowded than the ones at PO-RS though and there are more of them too. As two adults with no children we prefer to use the quiet pools.

Rooms and Housekeeping: The rooms at CBR are a bit larger than PO-RS but truthfully your hardly notice the difference. Both have 2 double beds or 1 king bed, double sink vanity, a table with two chairs... If I understand correctly from SeaSprays recent report (thank you SeaSpray!!) that CBR has a coffee maker and a privacy curtain to divide the vanity area from the bedroom. Last time I stayed at PO, they did not have that feature. Housekeeping at both resorts has been excellent in my experience!

So either way, you can't go wrong. They are both excellent resorts. Enjoy your trip and please feel free to ask me any questions.
