CBR vs CSR

Can somebody tell me a bit about CBR in comparison to CSR?

I saw quite a few pictures on the web of each and was not impressed with CBR. It looked old, ran down and dirty.

I really liked what I saw of CSR, but my other family members were really turned off by the 10% gratuity being added on for all meals, even self service.

Muchas Gracias in advance.

Haven't stayed at CBR, but it is the older of the two resorts. We have stayed at CSR 3 times and really enjoyed it. Re the 10% auto gratuity, I believe that is only at the Pepper Market food court. I'm always amazed at the resistance to the 10% charge. Food is a high ticket item at WDW. The PM gratuity is just part of eating there. Unlike other food courts, they do have people who come to check on you, bring drinks, etc. If you eat at a full service restaurant surely you would leave 15-20%

Having stayed at both, I prefer CBR.

The rooms are brighter, and because the resort has recently been re-furbished, you can consider it 'newer' than CSR. We found the rooms at CSR, while basically the same size and layout, were dark.

The quiet pools at CBR are a little more private than those at CSR (just my opinion), and are more conveniently located. DH and I also liked the clean, white, sand beaches at CBR. We also enjoyed renting a small motorboat and driving around the lake at CBR....nice, long, relaxing trek because the lake is very large. However, when we tried this at CSR, we felt like we went around in circles because the lake is considerably smaller.

I did not like the food court area at CSR one bit. The 10% gratuity was a kicker, but we thought the food was horrible (again, just our opinion....many people LOVE the Pepper Market!).

Although I will say that CSR has possibly the best pool on Disney property, I still think CBR's atmosphere is 100% nicer.

We stayed at both CBR and CSR for the past two trips and love both of them! I think CSR has a bigger, better pool with a great slide! We prefer CSR for their food court over CBR because we felt the quality of food was better b/c most of it is made to order and fresh. CBR has ready-made dishes and you have to get your food and pay at each station unlike CSR where they stamp your ticket at each station and total at the end. We didn't mind the 10% as they have always been helpful to us-getting outr drinks and real silverware. It never bothered us b/c you get a better quality food compared to other food courts on property. If you take out the food to go, they take the 10% off. We did that a few times since the weather was so beautiful this past May and we ate outside at the tables.
CBR has beautiful grounds for taking walks and a lovely beach area. CSR also has great grounds and we prefer it b/c each of the 3 sections is so different it really gives you something to look at, not the same villages with different colors like CBR. CSR's Cabanas seems to be close to everything if you are looking for great location though we stayed once in the Ranchos which we loved and last time in the Casitas and loved that even more! The look of the Cabanas doesn't thrill us.
We had a hard time with overcrowded buses at CBR and found the CSR buses to always be empty-both trips 2 years apart to CSR. Maybe it has to do with conventions at CSR. Note that conventions may be going on but we never noticed except that it meant less crowded pools and buses.
Don't forget CSR has a salon and gym too.
So, you have to weigh things out. We loved both resorts but decided to go with CSR again for our upcoming honeymoon b/c we just felt everything was one notch up from CBR (food, service, room, scenery, pools, etc).
Not sure if I was of any help but best of luck!

Thanks for the info. I will share this with the in-laws. We were under the impression that this additional charge was added on regardless. I had read somewhere else, in a review, that they added the gratuity on there even if you got a doughnut and juice to go.

For the rest of the info, I am certainly appreciative. I liked POFQ and my husband would love to go back, but I am all up for trying something new.

Have a most wonderful day!! :flower2:
