I have heard that you have to pay more for a building close to the food court and main pool as it is considered an upgrade now. I don't have the money to pay extra for these buildings but do want to be as close as possible to the OPR. Any suggestions on which buildings to request at check in. Also, does it work to fax ahead any request that I may have at this resort? What would be the way to do this?:wave2:

CBR is one of our favorite resorts, in fact we just returned a few weeks ago. We once again requested and received a building in Jamaica. We prefer it over the others because we like being in a more "quiet" area and we love the short walk over the bridge to OPR and the main pool. We have stayed in Building 42, which is a bit longer walk, but still acceptable, and building 46 twice. We prefer 46. In fact our favorite room was 4632 which is a corner and close to everything. It is also a King room, which costs more, but is worth it to us as it is just me and DH so we don't need a second bed. The best building in Jamaica however, I think is 45 as it is closest to the bridge to OPR. In the CBR facts thread I have pictures from several trips if you would like to see some pictures, Safetymom does as well.

We stayed in Jamaica and found it to be perfect-short walk across bridge to food court, shops and main pool. What was nice was we were not right on top of the main area that was often louder with the pool and steel drum band. We would stay in Jamaica again if we visit CBR. :)

I agree that Jamaica is a short walk away from OPR. I suggest calling central reservations and having your requests noted in your reservation.

When you get there if they haven't been met ask the CM. They love to grant your requests.

I agree - the last time we just happened to end up in Jamaica and will be requesting that area again. It is a short walk to Old Port Royale (maybe only a few minutes) and you wouldn't have to pay the extra $$$ for a preferred location. We were also upgraded to a cornier view room (4556) and fell in love with its location - to top it off, the bus usually always picks up and drops off visitors first which is a very much needed convenience.
But again, when we head down in January we are definitely requesting that area again:)

i was just there and was in aruba 56. now i have some physical limitations and it was not a bad walk. maybe 5-10min at most ( i have a cane and can walk quite slow at the end of an epcot day lol) i agree that jamaica or aruba would be perfect. Aruba 53 is right on top of the quiet pool and laundry facilities but all the buildings are just a hop skip and a jump away from everything. now i wouldn't want to walk back and forth to the bar from the room but the drinks are cheaper to buy at the gift shop anyway so you could buy your beer or wine and bring it to the quiet pool or the beach for a nice evening.
