CBR - regular vs preferred; can you request an area

We will be at the CBR in January. We will only be there for four nights as we are mainly there for a competition and are tacking 2 parks days on. My mother will also be with us and she can sometimes have trouble walking long distances. We went with the CBR because it was the only moderate in our sports selection package (as opposed to choosing one of the POR or POFQ). Two quick questions for those who have stayed at CBR:

1. What is the benefit of upgrading to the preferred room? We will most likely be away from the room and hotel the majority of each day.

2. Can you request an area where you would like your room? If so, do you have recommendations for one closer to the bus stop but still with a nice view/location?

You would definately want to book a preferred room. We always requested the Martinique section. It is closer to the food court and main pool. This resort is very big and spread out. They have bus stops at all of the sections. The bus stops multiple times in the resort before it goes to a park. If your mother is unable to walk long distances you might want to look into renting an ECV. You can rent one at the parks but will only have it in the park or you can rent off site and have it all of the time.

1. Preferred rooms are the closest rooms to the food court and the main pool.

2. Yes, you can request an area. Every village has its own bus stop and quiet pool, so no matter where you are you will always be close to one of those. For Non-preferred locations, we like Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. Both are about a 3-4 minute stroll across the bridge to the food court and main feature pool. And of those 2 we prefer Jamaica because the bright yellow exteriors of the Jamaica buildings just screams Caribbean to us.

You have made an excellent choice. CBR is our favorite Moderate by far!
