Decisons, Decisions. :confused3 CBR? or CSR?
I'm not sure which one I'd be happier with, so I thought I'd ask other Canadian Disers which one they would prefer.
It's DH and I, still fit and able, and we don't mind walking. Looking for a king bed, non-smoking room in one of these two resorts.
I picture a hammock...on a beach...and an exotic drink...and that's as far as I can get. :goodvibes
The focus this year is not on the parks but on relaxing at Disney. :lmao:
We are planning for the last week of Jan or first week of Feb. We will be in the Keys the week before Dis.
Can anyone help me out?

I had a really bad expereince at CSR. PM me if you want details, I don't want to taint the reviews in case it was the exception...I hope.

The pool is great and Food court is good.

We have stayed at CSR twice. It is our favourite moderate. :cheer2: Love the atmosphere and the pools.

By far our choice would be CSR. They say it is more of a convention resort but that is one of the great things about it. You never see anyone else if they are conventioners they are always away in meetings so the pool is always very minimaly used and it is very relaxing with teh beach area and the great pool IMHO the best pool on property.

Does anyone have any favorite area they like to stay in?
We were considering the Cabanas...maybe building 8a or 8b. Any recommendations? It must be a non smoking building and we don't mind walking.
Has anyone used the fitness facilities?
Thanks.

We've stayed at both-It depends on your preference. If you had children with you I'd stay at CBR - without children (because of food choices, marketplace dining vs food court, also a little quieter) I'd go with CSR.

Between CBR and CSR, I would also agree that CSB is better. However, why retricted to only these two moderates.

My favorite by far is POR; great theming, boat to DD, etc.

We just stayed 10 days at CSR and it was great. The food court was amazing we ate there almost every night. We stayed in "Casitas 4". the quiet pool is right there and the dig site is fairly close. I think the "Cabanas" area has a stronger themed atmosphere but the entire property is beautiful. The "Casitas" area is sort of Mexico meets Caribbean. The "Cabanas" are beach themed, and the "Ranchos" is Santa Fe desert.

It is the beach theme I am interested in this time. I thought the Cabanas would be nice. I just have to decide which building would be best. I would like something not too far from the Dig Site. Any suggestions?

The Ranchos are the closest to the dig site. The Cabanas and the Casitas are about equal distance from the dig site. Another thing to keep in mind about the dig site is that if there is any threat of a storm they will shut it down and you will have to leave the area. We found that this was not the case at the quiet pool. The quiet pool is just a very large normal pool. It is surrounded by palm trees and there are lots of tables and chairs. It is very nice and kid friendly.
If you stay in the Cabanas you area closest to the main building that has the food court and the other services. The Casitas would be second closest. Personally, I would chose the Cabanas or Casitas and not the Ranchos(I'm not into cactus and rocks). What ever you do chose you will do a lot of walking--the place is enormous. They have a shuttle service but don't count on it because every time we saw it, it was going in the other direction or it was full.

We were in teh Ranchos 7A I think it was and we loved it back there it was a stones throw to the main pool plus we had a quiet pool just outside our door. This is by far the best MOD resort on property. We prefer it to even OKW and Wilderness lodge villas in the DVC group of resorts. You will ove this place yes it is huge but oh so wonderfull.

Is there a biking or walking or jogging trail at CSR?

Yes along with bike rentals and boat rentals. The walking/jogging trail goes all the way around the resort and the lake even across the boardwalk they have built there.

Is the bike trail separate from the walk/jog trail? Or is it just one trail for all three?

thanks

Same trail and it would be at CBR also the generally don't diferentiate between the walking/biking trails.

Just LOVED Coronado Springs. I was there for a Family Conference & couldn't believe how serene & romantic it was at the same time.

Buzz2001 has great photos in this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1052833&page=1&pp=15 & even better is his website (link in his signature).

The bus service is great. I know at time we went it was only Mod that included Fitness room admission -- don't know if that is still the case.

Beautiful everywhere though I personally really preferred the look of Cabanas (more holiday exotic to me). We were in 9b (I'm pretty sure), & were very close walk to Main Pool (just across pretty bridge) & Main Building & 1st bus stop. But I had paid for preferred room for this (not sure if all of 9b is preferred). There was someone with mobility issues in our party though so you could easily go farther out & still be happy. Though it is a very spread out resort around the lake. Beautiful walking through the grounds. When we went July05 the CMs with little trolleys were around frequently offering to give us a lift.

Very nice place to relax after the Parks and we were at a convention full of young kids! I found it more peaceful than the Deluxe Animal Kingdom Lodge (which I also miss terribly now). Quiet Pool & the hammocks near us were deserted (July05). Again YMMV.

I wish I'd known they didn't clear the quiet pools! We'd only been in 20 mins when we were cleared out - what's the point of that big pyramid/temple if not to draw the lightning away from the pool? :confused3 :rolleyes1

Agree conventions mean not too busy (just watch they don't cut line!) and we found plenty for the kids to eat (althoughwe found Pepper Market annoying!)
