What pool is best for a 4-1/2 yo and a 1-1/2 yo? CBR or CS?

Thanks,

Leah

My vote always goes to CSR. We enjoyed our first stay there in '98 when our daughter was 2.5. In May we will be staying there for the 5th time and our now 6 year and 3 year-old daughters will love it as much as always. The pool area cannot be beat, with the convenience of the kiddie pool, hot tub, food, bar and playground in one location. In my opionion it is the best set up of any of the resorts, even the famed Y&BC. Both you and your children would love this resort.

Haven't been to CBR but, I saw alot of small children having a blast at the Dig Site pool at CS last trip. I don't think you'd go wrong at CS.

While I absolutely love CSR, I thought it might be important to mention that the kids pool was a bit deep. DD had just turned 4 when we went there last year. She played in the kiddie pool but I couldn't move more than a foot away, because the bottom is graduated, and gets deeper closer to the fish that are in the middle of it. She choked on a lot of water there. Other kiddie pools that we have used were only calf deep for her, but this one got close to the belly in the middle. Just thought you might like to know. I loved the CSR.

Leah, I didn't personally step foot into the kiddie pool at CBR, but I saw a lot of small children in there and they were able to stand and the water level was still pretty low on them. I'd guess no higher than 18".
I just tried calling CBR....the first 2 people I spoke to didn't know the depth of the kiddie pool so they transferred me to the marina and no one answered because the marina doesn't open till 10am. I'll try again later to find out.

We have stayed at both. CBR when DDs were 2 and4. The problem we had at CBR was they would not let my daughter go down the slide with any kind of floatation device. Which ment we had to stand at the bottom and try to catch her and it was fairly deep cpm[ared to CS .
At CS you are able to wear floatation devices to go down the slide. Every year we bring the "speedo" swim vests from Target for 20$ and they are worth every penny. Be sure to get one for your 2 yo. They do have vests you can use but the speedo ones fit much better. My DD when she was 3yo and 36" (my shrimp) went down the pool slide about 100 times at cs. Things may have changed at CBR re: float. devices maybe SEaSpray knows.

SeaSpray,

I appreciate so much that you tried to do that for me! Your the greatest!

DisorBust,

I can't believe that they wouldn't let a child go down a slide with a vest on. I personally am a worry wart so I'd be right there at the bottom anyways, but it's nice to have that added protection. I was just at Target and saw those vests, $19.99! Even though my 4-1/2 yo is taking swim lessons, I'd still want something on him, he'd have more fun!

Seaspray may be right about the depth of the kiddie pool. I think the others that dd was in were about 8 inches deep. That's very manageable for toddlers to wade around in, but the 18" that was waist high on my dd made it difficult for her to sit, swim and splash about in a way that she would normally do. If she sat down in it. the water was almost up to her neck.

I am a little panicky, I'll admit. The depth when we were there was definitely deeper than the other kiddie pools. The giant fish in the middle spit water, if I remember correctly.

Those vests are lifesavers for us. When DD was 2 she could go in the "big" pool and float independently and SHE LOVED IT! Your 4 yo could probably fit into the vests they have but not your 2 yo. The downside is they take ALOT of suitcase space.

It was a pain to try to catch DD down the slide the water is about 5 ' at the bottom and I couldn't stand well. Maybe there policy has changed that was 4 yrs ago. Ha ve fun!

The kiddie pool at CBR is not deep at all. ds was 15 months old and could get around easily.

We are staying at CSR for the first time in April, and I am curious about the depth of the kiddie pool too. ds will be 2 years and 4 months old in April.

Although I like CBR better than CSR overall as a resort where I like to stay, I fell that the main pool / play area at CSR is much better than that at CBR. I can't address the depth issue of the kiddie pool but agree that it would be a very important factor for young children.
