Thanks everyone for your replies. I appreciate all the info. I had printed most of these replies and some other e-mails. My husband also started to read them - and to be quiet honest - it got us thinking about all the health issues - our hearts were broken once before - very tough as you all know. We are a bit afraid - we might be heartbroken sooner than we might think. We are wondering if we will spend most of our time at the vet too. I know they are all worth it - especially once you have them and give your money (least worry), time, love engery, patience. etc. I know they become our children. Will give it more consideration - we want to give it 100% if and when we do this.

We got one this summer and he is the best dog!!!!! Just make sure the breeder is reputable and then get the dog checked out by your vet right away!!! Our breeder has a 2 yr guarantee and the heart and eyes are both certified. They are a little pricey but I think totally worth it!! We have had no problems and like I said he is the sweetest dog. Good luck and let us know.
