We returned from the Eastern Caribbean Father's Day June 15 cruise on the Fantasy. The noise above room 10118 was terrible. I had read on DisBoards that there was noise about 6am on the Dream and thought "It can't be that bad. They're getting things ready for the day at the pool or something". WRONG. The noise started about 2am and seemed to last until 6am off and on. I notified Guest Services and they sent the head of Maintenance to see about the problem. As if it was the first time they had complaints. They told me to call them when it happens again and they will send a crew to see about the noise. The next night, I called and they visited my cabin and went upstairs. Later that evening, they told me that they couldn't find any problems and the area above us was the pantry. WOW. How could anyone not hear the noise in adjacent cabins ? I was told that no one else had complained. Ha !

The gave us candy and 2 video cash cards for our problems. The cash cards on had 2 tokens on them. Thanks. Some gin or vodka would have worked.
The next night, same thing. It seemed that someone was moving something large. I recorded it on my iPhone but didn't want to deal with it anymore.

Lesson learned: I will listen to Disboards next time and maybe I won't have to listen to overnight noises or anything else they warn me about.

I too wax very concerned about noise levels on deck 10 after reading reviews on here. We were in 10618 on the 1 June Eastern Fantasy sailing and can honestly, hand own heart say that we heard no noise at all, night or day!!!!

We were once in a cabin on a different cruise line that was directly underneath the galley. We had similar problems with what sounded like metal trolleys with rattling dishes being moved around above us for hours after late dinner finished, then starting up again really early. From now on, I only book cabins with other cabins both above and below.

We were on deck 10 on the Fantasy (10098) and I definitely thought there was a lot of noise from above. But, I never complained to guest services about it. It bothered me, but I just figured there wasn't anything they could do, since there are busy areas up above the room. I think being below Cabanas and the pool deck means noise is inevitable. So maybe they really don't get too many complaints, even though the noise is a problem. I don't know what the solution would be.

That said, we just booked a cruise on Fantasy for next summer and I only considered decks 7 - 9 because I want nothing but staterooms above and below me.

I made the mistake of taking a cabin directly under the pool deck on a Princess cruise. After being wakened every morning EARLY by deck chair being dragged around, I decided that i would NEVER do that again. Now, I only book decks 7 or 8, far enough from the decks without cabins! lol
Sorry you had a bad experience...please be sure to post a review of that room so that future DISers can learn from your experience. :)

We were in 10590 on Fantasy in May and had the same issues. Being right under the pool deck it was always noisy, but only if we were on the balcony or had the verandah doors open.

It was however especially noisy at the Pirate Party. We retired early after the fireworks and couldn't sleep because the music was so loud. Seemed like it went all night long too.

We decided to never get deck 10 again. Deck 9 might be better.

One of those reviews for 10118 on the Dream was mine:cool1: Perhaps I should have been more explicit. Highly doubt I will ever do deck 10 again because of the noise issues. If you are a heavy sleeper I am sure you would be fine. The kids slept though it without an issue. Of course they didn't pay for the cruise so who really cares.:)

Did deck 8 aft on the Fantasy in March. Much better. No noise from above. The vibration however was an issue. Still, being woken up while cruising is still better than being at work.

For the record we didn't complain however. Kind of regretting it now even if you only got token free stuff.

We are debating on rm 12012 or 12512. Which side of the ship is better to be on?

Fireworks are off the starboard side. I would choose 12512

Thank you! Can I ask you another question? I'm obviously new to Disboards and I had no idea you had responded to me. Is there any way to get notifications if someone responds to you in a thread?
