So my fiance and I are Catholic and on a budget!

We were originally going to have out wedding in our Catholic Church at home-our grandparents (esp my grandma) want this so much! (I can't let her down after all she's done for me.) So we were gonna do that then just go out to dinner somewhere here in NY on the weekend. Then on Sunday we were gonna travel to Disney and have a "vow" renewal ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, and have our reception in Disney. (My dream.)

But looking at pricing, I think it might be smart to just have our reception in Disney and have the wedding at home. Then I will have more of a budget for the wedding reception.

It's so hard when you're Catholic to plan this all out. Has anyone else ever encountered this issue? We need to stick to our budget of $12,000.

This planning stuff is exhausting! :worship:

If you want a "proper" reception (dinner/dancing etc) you'll have to have a Wishes Wedding and still meet the minmums required which I think currently is at least $12K plus tax and service charge. You can just have a reception though and Disney are used to this with other Catholic brides having the ceremoney off site then reception onsite.

Yeah, we are actually thinking of having our ceremony at a Catholic Church nearby. It's called Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Anyone else ever been married there? I've seen some pictures and it seems not to need much decoration. Looks like a beautiful church!

I know their was a couple who did the exact same thing and really had a nice day! I wish I could remember their names...

I was born and raised Catholic, my mom and grandparents really wanted us to get married in the Church but we opted for Disney instead. I think your Corpus Christi soultion is perfect.

A couple years ago my cousin had her wedding ceremony in a church nearby in Orlando (not her church) and then a wishes wedding reception at WDW. It's definitely doable. Unless you want to get married in 'your' church? :confused3 One thing I will tell you is if you decide to have a church wedding in Orlando, when the priest tells you to be there on time, he means it! My poor cousin was pretty late and they cut out the Mass and communion and just had a ceremony. He was not thrilled, but there was a wedding behind hers so there was nothing he could do! It was all for nothing because the whole reason for the church wedding was to have a Mass, and because she was late she didn't have that. Gone are the days of being 'fashionably late' for your wedding :worried:

With that said, I had the whole big Catholic church wedding with a lot of people and I don't regret it, but I'm doing a small vow renewel in WDW soon for our 14 Anniversary...so I guess if you really want a Disney wedding that won't go away, I'm proof of that. ::yes::

Just letting you know that using Corpus Christi in Celebration can be pretty expensive with all their "suggested tips". Would you like me to send you the information packet they sent me via email?

We've just decided to do the civil ceremony at Disney and a deacon is going to do the Catholic Ceremony with just our parents when we get home.

Really? How can a Church wedding be expensive? So crazy. What if you don't follow their suggestions and just say, I just want to get married lol. Yes, I would love for you to send me that. :)

Oh no! You're poor cousin. That's craziness! I mean, we might have a small vow renewal in "our" church when we get home, but we want out Disney Day to be our real day.

I totally get ya on the Disney Wedding things. I've been dreaming about it since I was a little girl and I'm lucky I found DF who loves Disney, maybe even a little more than ME! :wizard:

I hope we can work it out because we're on a tight budget!

Try Holy Redeemer in Kissimmee. We had our wedding mass there on a Saturday morning....just family. And then a larger ceremony with 115 guests at the WP and reception at the BW. Was a long, yet perfect, day. Holy Redeemer was beautiful.
