About 6 months ago or so, I started a thread wondering about Catholic weddings at WDW. Catholic priests are not encouraged to perform ceremonies at WDW. I asked you wonderful people on the DIS :goodvibes if you knew of any priests willing to perform ceremonies at WDW. Someone gave me a priest's contact info, and he just responded from my email from August! It turns out there is a Catholic Priest who will marry you at Disney! This will make my family VERY happy :rolleyes1

If anyone wants his info, PM me and I'd be glad to share :)

The only problem is we have Rev. Jack Day booked b/c we thought we couldn't have a Catholic wedding. Does anyone know his cancelling procedures? Thanks :)

id say you can just cancel since you havent paid anything-- but the more notice the better... glad you got in contact with the priest!!:goodvibes

Yeah that's what I figured. I just don't remember if there was a cancellation fee or not, and I don't have his info with me in Atl. Thanks Maggie :)

OMG I am so happy about this catholic priest.. my grandmother and parents wanted me to have a full on catholic ceremony but I knew Disney wouldnt do it... I am going to PM you now.... so happy:thumbsup2

Jen, that is great! I am so glad that you will be able to have a Priest!

I just checked over his website, and Rev. Day doesn't have anything on there about a Cancellation policy. So, I wouldn't think there would be a fee or anything.

Let us know how it works out!

I was supposed to have a Disney wedding this past December...for several reasons we decided to do an at home wedding in the upcoming spring/summer. I notified Rev Jack and he was the most understanding gentleman...he was fine with the cancellation, no fee and wished us the best of luck.

Can someone please send me the contact info for him?? I am getting married in disney June 2008 and was going to have 2 weddings because we really wanted a priest.

Congratulations! I really would have liked to have a priest, but Rev. Jimmy was great anyway. I have a aunt (family friend) that would have been much happier if it was a priest. Oh well.

Congratulations on this pixie dust coming through.

So nice of you to share this info with other brides. I know I will rest a little more at ease for my dream vr. Now, I can tell my priest that it is possible through disney.:thumbsup2

FYI to everyone...

Fr. Wade emailed me back today and said we have to meet with him in person before the wedding. This would have been good info a couple months ago! I do not know how DF and I will get down there before the wedding. I'm going to hint to him that it'd be nice to go down for my birthday at the end of March ;)

Also, he is not in Roman Catholic Church. I am sure many of us are Roman Catholic. He is from the Old Catholic Church of North America.

I had exactly the same problem but I found a catholic priest through the internet and I am meeting on on April 29th in Orlando. Following my meeting I will (with his permission) give you all his details etc. He has been so helpful sp far emailing me and he even (for my mother) sent me a sample of the catholic ceremony he performs. He's also including communion for me! My mum is so happy and if shes happy Im happy!!!

Wow! I was planning my day out and decided after work I was going to post a question about a priest willing to perform ceremonies and here the information already was waiting for me. My EM had assured me that if I find a church willing that they may be able to provide me with several options. This is the only thing holding us back at the moment for making a final (I mean absolute no turning back FINAL) decision on DFTW or not.

I'm going to PM some of you ladies and if anyone else should encounter new information please post or PM me.

I'm desperate, see? :yay:

Thanks!

Jenny

I am very new and not sure how to pm, but I would really like the info on the priest to marry in Disney world!

skiqt323- I sent you a PM. Up on the upper right hand corner of your screen where it says "Welcome, skiqt323" it has a place for Private Messages. Click there :)

I have to run this by you- DH & I are both from different religious backgrounds and at our wedding we had a Rabbi (that’s for my side) and a priest (DH’s family are devout Catholics). Here is where it gets weird- I kept telling DH and my MIL that you could not have a Catholic Priest at a Disney wedding or any other facility in Orlando. MIL was in disbelief and felt an exception should be made. She contacted the Dioceses of Orlando, Boston, and everywhere in between. Finally, she found someone who would do it from the Daytona area- I find out right before the wedding he was a married Catholic Priest.

So, we had the married Priest and a Rabbi. Now, for anyone who is Catholic, would this be “acceptable” for you if you wanted to be married by someone of your faith? Is this marriage blessed by the Catholic Church? As we say in the my faith- is this Kosher?:rotfl:

As a side note, when they did the introductions at the wedding, they each stated who they were- the Rabbi said he was a Jewish Rabbi and the Priest announced he was a married Priest practicing his faith. I guess this really upset MIL- she didn’t want anyone to know he was married!

He and his wife were wonderful- his wife even came early to see if I needed help. I guess when her husband does a wedding she often helps the bride get ready the day of the wedding. She had asked MIL for my phone number and explained she wanted to see if I needed any help to keep some stress/things off me or my Mom the day of the wedding. MIL said I wouldn’t need anything and wouldn’t give her my info! :sad2: If anyone would like his contact info, I can provide it, he did a great job!

I'm pretty sure that would be recognized by the Church because he is a priest, but I believe married priests are not affiliated with a particular parish, but once you become a priest, you are always one and allowed to give the sacraments if someone asks. Was he from Rent a Priest? http://www.rentapriest.com/web/?_p=1001

I wouldn't mind one way or the other, but I did suggest this to DF awhile ago and he wasn't having ANY part of it! He's still disappointed that we're being married by a minister, but he's doing it because he knows how much I want to get married at Disney. I agreed to do the blessing at home in the Church sometime afterward.

I'd like the info, too! :)

I know of a few people who were married by a priest who later married himself. They do joke about their marriages "not counting" but of course they do. He wasn't married at the time he married them, but similar situation.
