Category 8 or Category 9...

Category 8 is divisible by 2. Category 9 is divisible by 3.

Other than that and the deck, I think they are the same. I upgraded to Cat. 8 after I found out Cat. 9 was at the bottom. I just like being up higher. I'm told that on Disney ships it isn't like this, but on a RC cruise the lower decks seemed to have smaller hallways and felt more like the bottom of the barrel to me (though I never saw the cabins).

When we booked last week the Disney agent told us that category 9 has two smaller portholes, category 8 has one large porthole. We have a category 8 booked on deck 6.

I've stayed on deck 2 and deck 6. I personally liked deck 2 better. It was quiet and you don't feel the ship movement at all. The rooms are exactley the same. Save your money to have fun.

Actually...
Category 8 is on decks 5, 6, and 7.
Category 9 is on decks 1 and 2.

The category 9 staterooms on deck 1 have 2 smaller portholes.
The category 9 staterooms on deck 2 have 1 large portholes.

Category 9 only has two small portholes if you are on deck 1. Deck 2 portholes are the same size as those on the upper decks in the Cat. 8 rooms. Cat. 8's primary benefit is that you won't have something potentially noisy overhead; many of the Cat. 9 rooms on deck 2 are under the nightclubs.
