any suggestions for behaviour corrections?

It's my niece's cat, and my mother's house...and so far, the 2 aren't such a great combo:teeth:

He's a 1 year old adoptee, fixed and declawed, and they've been using the spray bottle to get him off the kitchen counter and the dining room table.

...funny part is, he loves the spray of the water!:rotfl: :rotfl:

So it's not working as a deterrent;)

So they've stopped that.

But Mr. LucyCatFred :cool2: (did I mention that my niece is 3, and that's the name she picked for him...after *my* cat, Lucy, and he's a, well, a cat, and she likes the name Fred...hence, Mr.LucyCatFred:teeth: ) continues his quest to conquer the high spots in the house - much to my mother's dismay:headache:

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!!

It's all fun!!:goodvibes

giggle! Love that name!

Um, maybe if you ignore what he is doing, then he'll move onto something else!

But your mom does realize that the cat thinks he is All to End All and can do anything he wants, right!?!;)

PS Just thought of something, you can put FOIL down to foil the cat!

We were having problems with our cat until I discovered that he hates having his face blown on. As a corrective measure, it's been quite effective.

What a name!! Love it!

My IL's have/had this problem with their kitten - she's 6 months old now and what they did that seems to be stopping it is to put double sided tape down on the edges of the counter - cat hates it and will n ot jump up now!

I had two cats (salt & pepper - salt has since passed) who used to love getting up high on counters, tables etc. The trick is to find something that they really do not like. For Salt - it was cayan pepper - I spinked some on the counter, messy but work. He quickly got the point. With Pepper, he does not like loud noises, so evertime he would jump up I would clap my hands really loud and say his name. They both were trained not to jump up on the counters and tables.
Now, if someone could tell me how to stop by cat from being my alarm clock on weekends, that would be most appreciate. Like clockwork, he is licking my face and biting my toes at 6am - ok thru the week but not the weekend.:)
Hope I have offered some advise.

Tried the foil, too...I had thought of it (remembered reading of your cat's misadventures, Scratch:teeth: ) and mom wasted no time in covering the table with it.

Mr.LucyCatFred has a new favourite toy:rolleyes:
LOVES jumping on the crinkly, sparkly foil:rotfl:

So now mom is out a roll of foil too:teeth:
Hee hee!

I'll suggest the double stick tape..and blowing in his face, too:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I think my mother is going to have to retrain herself into allowing Mr.LCF anywhere he wants!

Stay tuned!!
I am!! LOL!!

....s cayan pepper... does not like loud noises....

Will pass those along too!!

Our cat - the original Lucy;) - is the alarm cat too.

We've got her set for 5:30am:headache: :headache: :headache:

She gets the classic heave ho out the bedroom door:goodvibes

Good luck!!

You can make a "bad cat rattle" - a couple of pennies in an empty pop can (put tape over the opening. He might like water but he WON'Tlike that sound!

We've trained several cat by starting to just put them off and saying no. If they keep doing it I usually hit the table pretty hard several times to startle them. That always gets them moving. Do it behind them and keep moving closer till they jump off. Works every time.

Go to the dollar store and get a plastic spray bottle.

Spray with water as necessary. :scared: (don't aim for the face, body will do just fine) It won't take long.

Worked for us many times over.

Wish the dog would learn as quick:rolleyes1
