Okay... we have had 2 cats in our home for years, both indoor/outdoor cats who are fixed and up to date w/ all their shots. Recently we were adopted by a stray who just showed up, and while I was 100% against having another cat, this cat is truly the nicest cat I have ever known. We did call our towns animal control and local vets to see if he was a missing cat, he is so nice and social and loving, he clearly is not feral. No one has responded to say they are missing a cat fitting his description. He is NOT neutered, and I am making an appt w/ the vet to have him neutered and give him his shots since it is becoming clear that he is sticking around. I gave him Frontline flea and tick stuff when he first came, even though there was no evidence of fleas, I didn't want that headache.
SO, my male cat hates this new cat, but he hates everyone, human and animal. My female cat is fine with him, as is my yorkie (yes, there is a dog in my house too.... I know, I know.... my vet bill and pet food/supply bill is huge). My biggest issue is that I found an unpleasant surprise under my kids bunk beds today.... cat poop. A bunch of it
. Not sure which cat it is... my fixed male cat kind of claims the kids room as his territory for naps, but I have never had an issue with him pooping in the wrong spot. I tend to think it is the new cat, but he steers clear of the kids room. My female cat is a true lady and would never poop outside the box and she also steers clear of the kids room... my room is her turf.
I am going to buy anther litter box today, and try some of that spray that supposedly keeps cats away from an area and spray that under the bunks (after I steam clean the carpet... ughhh... I am SO grossed out right now and the carpet is only a year old
). I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with this situation and what worked for them.
TIA
