Okay, if all the great people here at the Dis could say a prayer or think good thoughts for my kitty Blythe, I would greatly appreciate it! She has been battling mouth issues--swollen, painful gums and fever--for the last two months. She has been through 2 courses of antibiotics and they still look really bad. THey want to do a serious dental exam on her and will once her bloodwork comes back. I am about to take her for bloodwork now.

Doctor said there is a chance it is feline leukemia, which is very scary to me. I adopted her from a rescue group. They told me that a reliable way of testing in kittens is to test the mom. Her mom was negative. They don't test the kittens. They are professionals and I took them at their word. I have three other cats and I am SCARED, because if she has this, all my cats may have it.

Bloodwork should be back this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Please pray she doesn't have this and that it is just a bad tooth or another virus that will go away on it's own.

Thanks for you help.

Marsha

Prayers are on the way for your furbaby.

My first cat had it too and we couldn't have other cats until she passed. Unfortunately it was horrible in the end for her. I will pray that your kitty is healthy!

I'm so sorry. :sad1: very sad for you and your cat family.

We knowingly got a kitten with feline leukemia. She was born with it. We didn't have any other pets at the time and it was...dormant I guess, she was just a happy kitten who just didn't seem ready to die, so we took her off her owner's hands.

She lived 3 happy years with us until she began showing symptoms, and we had her put to sleep immediately.

I hope she's alright, and I'll be hoping for better news for you. Good luck. :guilty:

Thanks for the prayers! I was able to get a quick test in house and she tested NEGATIVE for both! What a relief! I won't know whether her blood counts are okay for the surgery until tomorrow, but that didn't scare me as much. Hopefully this is a bad tooth and all will be well after surgery.

Marsha

Fingers crossed that the blood counts come back ok and that the surgery goes well!

 for you and your furbaby... I am a HUGE cat lover and to think that someones kitty is sick just makes me very sad.... I will say many many prayers for your baby.... Please keep us posted....
