Nothing like posting question in the title,
But we are getting ready to book our first Disney Cruise through the Vacation Club once our deed is recorded. So I am using the time to research rooms.

I have read that people perfer aft because it has less motion than forward. Does anyone have any other opions?

I am really stuck on the Cat 7 or Cat 6 thing. The open verandah sounds lovely, but traveling with a six year old I am wondering if the Nav. Verandah would be a better choice?

I was looking into deck 5, thinking if our daughter spent alot of time in the kids clubs it would be easy, especially if we have a late evening (less distance to carry a sleeping six year old). But my hubby is concerned that the hallways will be filled with the sounds of kids running to the clubs etc.

I would really appreciate any imput!!!
Thanks

We have the same question!

This is our fourth cruise on DCL and we are trying something a little different. We are DVC'ers and have always used points but are doing a 25th anniversary for cash in April 2004.

We have always stayed in the midship area, Cat 5 Deck 7, right around the elevators. This time we are in cabin 7134 in the aft section, with a little larger verandah and was curious if anyone had stayed back there and if there were issues I need to think about. we have never been sea sick but did get a little "whoozie" during some quick sprints through the Gulf Stream.

Thoughts? Thanks!

We've stayed on Deck 5 on 2 cruises, and have heard no noise from the kids clubs. It is very convenient. The children do not go in a mass down the cabin halls on these Decks. The cabin hall ways are separate from the main hallways which lead to the elevators and the kids clubs, so in general, the only people passing by your door are the other people with cabins on the hallway. I've only had aft cabins, and never had any seasickness.

I will put in a HUGE vote for deck 5!!!
My favorite stateroom is 5650, which is on deck 5 and as far aft as you can get. It's so quiet back there that you'd never even know the kids clubs were on that deck. We stay in the secret porthole rooms, too, which are deck 5 forward, and those don't have any disturbance from the kids clubs either. As a matter of fact, I think there is less hallway traffic overall because the entire deck is not full of staterooms. I like being as close to the water as possible, and deck 5 has the lowest verandah staterooms.
The nav. verandahs are very nice, too. They are aft and very quaint and cozy. If it would ease your peace of mind, the go for it!

In my opinion, aft is better than forward. The only time I got motion sickness was when I was waiting for a show to start, which is forward. If we only had three, I would get the nav. verandah. They look very cozy and are cheaper.
